Always liked this plane.

But never made it past the planning stage. Last weekend, though, I grabbed some styrofoam, wood and plastic and started it. Here's what I have so far:

Carved the shape out of foam

Made the wings out of some styrene scraps

Sealed, puttied, and sanded. Made the air inlets from a plastic tube

And primed to see the many flaws it has

A lot less to do to complete now. I still have to finish the rear propeller (a scimitar shaped 8-bladed very different job from the diagram), make the canopy framing, and hang some ordnance. Then to the paint shop

You absolutely amaze with with your skills. The day I can produce anything out of out of styroform and cardboard, then I'll feel like I've accomplished something. Good looking work!
Look behind you!

Thanks, amigos!!!

This is really fun, and quite relaxing.

I made the propeller with plasticard, cast a spinner in resin molding the point of a pen, installed the wings, and made the maing gear carriage sponsons with wood. Here's the progress for tonight:

Brilliant Rafa.  I like the idea of using the foam.  It looks like it should produce a good model.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Thanks, my friends.
Today I grafted the weapons pylons. Made a gun pod with balsa wood and a bit from a paper clip. I intended to make it resemble an off-centre Oerlikon KCA installation, say a KCA 25mm. The small FLIR/LRTMS turret in the front was made kneading a little sawdust with white glue and put on a small plastic disk.
