or the jet powered DC-4 or better yet the DC-4J  :o.  While I was watching paint dry, BdaB's Peaceliner came to mind. I had a DC-4 fuselage and Cessna wings left over from a previous build. Add a couple of 1/200 747 engines and this is what came up. I don't know how much I'll fix this one up, but I'll have fun doing it. ;D

I chopped the fuselage, inverted the "wing spar", added the wings and found a piece of the ever helpful T-bird F-16 to make a "turtleback.

Coming along nicely! Are you going to 'modernize' the tailplane area, you know, more angular?

Used the same method on my Comet/Nimrod amphib, easy when you've got a nice circular fuselage to work with eh?

Believe it or not, I'm contemplating putting a DC-10 tail, with the engine, but I don't want to make it look unrealistic. :D

Aye, a round fusy makes everything easier.;D

No!  No!  Don't use the DC-10 OR T-tail!  It looks Sooooooo British with the regular one!  (Maybe with a BOAC color scheme??)

Nice idea!

I agree with Bob about the tail: it suits the old-fashioned-looking wings as it is (might need a bit of dihedral to clear the jetwash though).

The only thing that strikes me as not quite right is how far forward the 747 pylons put the engines. Those forward-extended pylons are used on swept wing airliners to bring them closer to the CofG, but on a straight wing, they seem to put the engines a bit too far forward. Just my twopenneth.....

You are exactly right. This is my first mock up to get a feel for the look I want to achieve. I will move the engines back. A elevator config like the Metoer may be a better choice than the one I have now because of jet wash.
