Hi folks,

Can anyone recommend a good book covering the entire P-36 -P-40 & related developments series?

Regards,

In my opinion, British, Canadian, or USAF markings make things look so much better...

Hi,
My take @ P-40, here with an Jumo 211/213, or DB-603. Prop might need some cropping, though:

What-if... Curtiss presses with their own R-2600 to create a P-40, 'stead of V-1710? An early/poor man's Fw-190, or Hellcat?

You might want to give your R-2600 a cowling more along the lines of the one used on Pratt & Whitney's
R-1830 engined P-40/Hawk 81A test aircraft.

Dunno - maybe something featuring cooling fan like one from XP-42 pics, or Raiden-type cowling/shaft/fan stuff. R-2600 was a pretty large engine.

Twin P-36, here with wing MGs & 37mm (either gun from, or 'airborne' derivative of the AAA piece); homogeneous battery would've been cool, too.
No hull MGs.

In an attempt to improve streamlining, Curtis mounted fan cooling to the R-2600 powered P-40. USAAC pilots were surprised to encounter a similar IJA plane, later known as Raiden.

Where will I fit it in with my cross-breeding of boats and hot rods, trying to pull a Technical together in 1:25th, and building my late 60s style dirt track 1949 Ford coupe?

Inspired by Mossie's work, I came up with the following, and you can find other inspirational ideas at http://shipbucket.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2148:
