Some ideas for the Shorts aircraft. Not including previously mentioned towns or towns that I know for certain were used as aircraft names:

Working from Scotland down to the south coast: (Starting at Lossiemouth and ending around Southend-on-Sea)

Sandend, Sandhaven, Stonehaven, St. Andrews, Skelton, Sheerness

Going along the south coast: (Southend-on Sea to Penzance)

Selsey, Stubbington, Sandown, Sidmouth, Swanage, Stokenham, Salcombe

Running up the west coast, back to Scotland, and including Northern Ireland: (Penzance back to Lossiemouth)

St. Agnes, Sully, Saundersfoot, Shotton, Scarlett, Strandhall, Sartfield, Sorisdale, Sanna, Struan, Sconser, Scrabster, Scarfskerry, Skirsa, Sarclet, Skinnerton, Shandwick, Stornoway

Disclaimer:
I found all these places on a map, I've been to none of them and cannot attest to their worthiness to have a possibly great aircraft named after them. They are all Britsh towns and cities starting with "S" that are coastal or located in inlets or seaways.

Personally, I'm partial to St. Agnes. It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but it does give latitude for "Aggie" as nice nickname. Just as the Anson was the "Annie" and the Lysander was often called the "Lizzy", the Shorts St. Agnes could simply be the "Aggie". (Mind you, I also think Bristol Braintree would be a great name for a bomber, so my aircraft naming skills might be rather suspect in their quality )

I have a lot more spare time than I expected today, probably much more than I should have if I could spend the morning gawking at British coastlines on a Google map.

I will now commence with finding suitably vicious sea animal names for your Supermarine contraption.

Saundersfoot!!!  Should have thought of that one, used to holiday there as kid, my Dad's cousin had a lovely place where we used to stay.  Pretty town on the beautiful Pembrokshire coast in Wales, no connection to aviation & not a name that would mean much to too many, although it's just a few miles down the coast from Pendine sands.  Just a lovely part of the world.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Short Sydenham.  Something with a bit more 'reality', Sydenham (as well as being a London Borough) is an area of Belfast.  The City Airport is located here & there were both RAF & RN bases here.  Moreover, it has a Short connection, the Harland factory is located there & it's where the Sunderland & Stirling were produced.  I think!

mossie!

sydenham isn't a london borough, its just a district in south london. there is also a sydenham in leamington spa too.

i'll get me coat!  ;D ;D

Ah well, I knew it was in London!  Which is pretty good for me, if it's not on the Monopoly board, I've usually never heard of it!

In these days of corporate sponsorship perhaps the Short Sainsbury maybe acceptable, I mean there is a Sainsburys in most seaside towns and it would look good parked up next to an Avro Asda, a Martin Morrisons and a Tupolev Tu-Tesco !

As for the Supermarine... the most deadly S is the Stonefish (kills more humans a year than Sharks). If its land based how about the Sloth, Serow (it's a goat like antelope) or Skunk.

or if you wanted something to roll off the tongue how about the Supermarine San Bernardino Merriam's Kangaroo Rat (Dipodomys merriami parvus). Great camo colours as well "The body color is weakly ochraceous (yellow) with a heavy overwash of dusky brown. The tail stripes are medium to dark brown and the foot pads and tail hairs are dark brown. The flanks and cheeks of the subspecies are dusky. "   hmmmmm dusky !

One thought that struck me as a name for your Supermarine aircraft was Medusa.

It works in a couple of ways, first, it does serve the dangerous sea creature idea as there is a type of jellyfish called the medusa. Not Aggressive, but definitely a creature to be respected.

Secondly, it serves the mythological naming practice that Britain had in the inter war years so you could have it as a design with its origins in that era. Medusa and her Gorgon sisters definitely were an aggressive and dangerous lot.

Supermarine Medusa.....hmmmm

I remember once seeing a documentary on frigate birds, suitably nasty beasties from what I recall of the show. Supermarine Frigate actually doesn't sound that bad either.

No, if it was Supermarine, it would have to start with an S for alliterative reasons.

But wasn't the Walrus one of theirs?

Seaplanes & flying boats generally had different rules, being the preserve of the Navy.  Hence Blackburn Shark and Skua.

Well, at that, the name Supermarine Sawfish comes to mind.

Short Stonnington? It'd be a HUGE WhatIf stretch as Stonnington is A: In Australia B: A suburb of Melbourne, C: Only came into being during the great local council amalgamations during the reign of Chairman Jeff in the 90s a D: Doesn't have much seafront at all (if any)

Supermarine Sperm Whale?
Supermarine Snapping Turtle?
Supermarine Psychotic Sea Bass?

Australia might well be doable.  The Commonwealth has been used for names before, the Handley Page Hyderabad & Short Singapore are two that come to mind.  American names too, the Douglas Boston & Boeing Washington being examples. They were US aircraft though, the names were only used because no others existed that fitted the convention of naming bombers & transports after citys.

Supermarine Siren, mentioned it before.  I'll just qualify that one as they're the Greek mermaids of legend that would lure sailors to their deaths.  Might be appropriate as Supermarine liked naming it's aircraft after lady's with a bit of lip!
Supermarine Sea Monster.
Supermarine Sea Snake.
Supermarine Skate???  They can give you a very nasty nip if your stupid enough to put your fingers near the mouth!
Supermarine Sea Dragon.  Okay, far from ferocious but sounds like it is!
Supermarin Starfish.  They're predatory, but I'm giving up trying to make things sound scary that really aren't!

Supermarine Seahorse!
Supermarine Seashell (For export to the Seychelles, and often to be seen for sale by the seashore!)
Supermarine Seashore
Supermarine sea anemone
Supermarine Spelunk (noise made by a ferocious sea beast diving back into the water...)

And on the subject of coroporate sponsors -Avro Aldi sounds good!
McDonald-Douglas iMac?

okay, back to the plot...

Short Servo (Aussie slang for Service Station, which is what we call a Gas Station or Garage, and yes, you find them by the sea.)

OOO! OOO! OOO! Sudden brain wave (also totally useless) - When DaFrog was a young 'un he refered to the act of regurgitation as a spurdle.

So why not Short Spurdle?
