Picked up a 1/24 Tamiya Mini from the LMS, I'm going to give it a chop job and make it into a shorty, so short the drive sits on the back seat.  ;D

Arrived today off echo-bravo:

1/72 Aifix DeHavilland Herron w/Jersey Airlines livery.

A classic kit I got for $11, shipping included. Will probably be scale-o-rama'ed to 1/144 and will probably get its wings and tail swapped out with some other worthy kit.

Acting on Radish's information, I girded my sense of taste and went to Modelzone in the Trafford Centre (huk, phtoo....) this afternoon, because it's MUCH easier to get to that the one in the the middle of Manchester, with the intention of getting some Revell Lizzies. However, when I got there and looked at them, I realised that they don't have the long-range fuel tank that the Airfix one does, and which is the principle reason for me wanting another one, so in the end, I decided to leave them. However, there was the rest of the sale........

All Revell, all £4.99:

Martin PBM-5 Mariner in 1/118th scale: been looking at this one with thoughts of a scaleorama Russian jet flying boat (a la Beriev R1) for a while but it used to be too dear. Not now.....

V2 missile and launcher in 1/69th scale: launcher to form part of a possible Gerry Anderson GB build, missile innards probably likewise, missile body...... probably something sci-fi.....

Ford Tri-Motor in 1/77th scale: don't know, but it was too cute and cheap to pass up. First thoughts are an early gunship, with a trio of water-cooled Brownings with individual gunners firing out of one side. On the cuteness front though, although they don't feature on the box, the instructions or the decal sheet, the sprues include not only a set of skis for the plane, but a dog sled, dogs and two guys in Arctic gear!!!! :drink:   Presumably, an earlier boxing of the kit commemorated the Byrd expedition over the South Pole.

Looked long and hard at the Twotters and another Ju-38, but decided not to. Other things in the sale that I can remember are: 1/32nd Sea Venom, 1/48th Sabre Dog, 1/48th Mitchell, 1/48th P-47, 1/72nd Wimpy, 1/72nd Heyford.....

I seem to acquiring a taste for these odd-scale Revells: I picked up a 1/83rd Skywarrior the other week, and there's a 1/113th B-47 on it's way from ebay......

I like the idea of the VERY SHORT MINI

From Model Hobbies:

Pegasus Hobbies 1/72nd "Apollo 27", yes another.
3 x Revell/Matchbox 1/72nd Lysanders   One "might" be real (shock horror!!) as the last Lizzie in combat....an Egyptian one harrassed by Israeli aircraft!!
1 x 1/48th SMER Bristol Bulldog....for Biggles, as Algy flies one as escort for Biggles' gold bullion trips in "Biggles and Co."
1/72nd PM C-45...rather nice, again for Biggles, a french one from "Biggles Foreign Legionnaire"....I have a picture!
Once you've visited the land of the Loonies, a return is never far away.....

I remember seeing a custom mini (the 'real' one) at show that had the rear section removed & shunted back up.  It was called 'Orange Squash' & sported a white & orange paint job.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

and all three of the Model Alliance Hurrican sheets - one has no less than 18 options.

That's the one I've got, superb isn't it !

Haven't bought too much recently, got a couple of decal sheets from eBay, an old Microscale sheet of 'International Mirages' from our very own Aircav, two sheets of Luftwaffe (fighter) numbers, a 1:48 Monogram Mirage 2000, and (this morning) a Tamiya 1:35 M48A3..... an impulse buy, but just fancied one - built one years and years back then stripped it down before a house move. Still got all the bits and pieces, accessories, figures etc.

From a couple of online shops:- (finally) A Hasegawa 1:48 TF-104G, and for Chris' 'Cold War SIG' a Tamiya 1:35 T-55A. Couldn't believe the price of this kit when I first started looking for one..... £32.00 !!!!!!! :o :o :o :o - Anyhoos after twenty mins or so on Google (other search engines are available), found one for £22.00  ;D - (£25.00 with postage).... Brilliant !

Picked up a couple of Revell's Star Wars easykits from Tesco's this morning.  Ostensibly to reward the boy for being "Pupil of the Week", we're going to build the Jedi Starfighter this arvo.  The Sith Penetrator however may end up being used by me in Shaspers Spring Break GB if he goes with the Sci-Fi theme ;)

Smer 1/72nd I-153 from ebay...  It's the Hi-tech Plus one too, which means a PE fret AND a set of resin skis, drop tanks and frag bombs to go with the Finnish markings....

Was nearly a disaster though: damn postman came when we were out (probably on Friday) and instead of doing the usual back to the office and red card through the door job, he left it on the front step, tucked right into a corner out of sight. Now we don't routinely use the front door, so I didn't spot it until this morning, after it had been out in the rain for two nights. Fortunately, the sender had almost forgotten to put the decals and PE in (he PM'd me about it on ebay), so he'd put them in a plastic bag and slithered them into the packing box, outside the kit box, at the last minute. Being in a plastic bag, they were fine: if they'd been loose in the soaking wet kit box, they'd have been goners. >:(
