The word 'Portakabin' itself is a trade name, and the firm are a trifle belligerent about defending it. Stupid them, as it's like having a free advert every time someone uses it. They have a similar attitude to American Airlines, Boeing, and what used to be the Chessie System Railroads.

There's a good reason behind their figting it.  It comes down to trademark law, they can loose it if the name becomes generic.  Trademarks are slightly different to other intelectual property rights, in that if gets into common useage (in principle at least), it allows anyone to use that name.  Hoover lost their trademark in the UK for just this reason when everyone used their trademark to describe a vacuum cleaner.  I worked for the company that made Elastoplast at one time (they've sold the rights to the name since), they very nearly lost that for the same reason.  Band Aid (same type of product) had a similar experience in the US.  Rolls Royce fight tooth & nail to stop marketeers calling their products 'the Rolls Royce of.....', as well as to retain some exclusivity.

Slightly nuts, but that's the world we live in!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

They are more pre-fabs with rather thin wall, but are designed to be the same size as a container. Note theres is a stacked pair of offices on the next page along with a gatehouse. In the Vehicle section you can find the ISO containers/

From Modelzone in Basingstoke - One Trumpeter 1:72 AS90 Self Propelled Gun and the Hobby Boss 1:72 Mil 24V Hind -E

Both gorgeous looking kits, but I am disappointed at the trumperter colour chart and decal placement guide - almost non existant in both. The hobby boos one on the other hand is brilliant! Only went in there for a look as well. It's surprisingly well stocked with plastic in amoungst al the DIE-cast and R./C stuff.

Its a terrific model.  All it needs is a new bang-seat and you're good to go.

Not my usual scale but a 48th scale Airfix TSR-2 has found a new home.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

From the LHS - Airfix Saladin, to go with my two JB ones.... (Mind you, they'll probably all fit in the Airfix box)

From ebay - Airfix Bloodhound. This was a substitute for a Kfir which I won, but it then turned out they'd already sold it and forgot to take the auction off...... :banghead:
