Just collected from the Post Office the new Airfix 1/72 BAE Hawk T2 kit i bought via ebay.

Nice kit, in their new format red boxes, full colour painting guide, recessed panel lines and nice clean details, follows a similar breakdown to their original Hawker Siddley Hawk but thats probably due to both kits using the manufacturers drawings. Certainly worth the money and bodes well for the Canberra and SHAR kits due in the next month or so.
(Of course the kit i'm really looking forward too is the 1/350th HMS Illustrious, although i suspect we will be lucky to see that this year)

I traded some Hasegawa Red Top missiles to thedarkmaster, and received in reply a pair each of

AA-6 Acrid (R-40)
AA-7 Apex (R-23)

I'm not exactly sure how they'll be used, but I've got an eye towards my own take on the AnE-3 Molniya.

Picked up a 1/350 North Carolina from a friend for $50 about 2 weeks ago to rob parts from to build a second USS Montana battleship for the future.
Also picked up these two kits:

.......plus another WWII AC days ago, to rob parts from for my Habbakuk build.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Nice kit, clear plastic aircraft and bridge, PE details.

Will be real for Cold War SIG as a true Cold War Warrior after serving in Korea as strike carrier the 50's as an ASW carrier and converted to LPH assault carrier in the 60's and used in Vietnam till retirement in 1970.

Off ebay:

1. An 1/72nd ICM modern Soviet weapons set. Not the big, dubious quality one, but the small one with just two R-77s, two X-29Ts and two X-31Ps in it.

2. An incomplete spares-or-repairs Hokum which was described as 1/72nd but turned out to be 1/48th, so is therefore going back....

Well i was dragged into a charity shop at the weekend, and found an Airfix F-15E on the shelf. Box was taped shut and a shake confirmed it wasn't empty. So I paid my £1.00 for it. Hopwever, on opening, all that's in it is the armament from the kit.

Oh well - caveat emptor.

And as it was a worthwhile charity (South Buckinghamshire Hospice), i won't be demanding my money back.

But i will be very careful next time.
