Mossie

Look good, cheap & very cheerful!  Might pick up one (oh, who am I kidding, both!) of the Shars.  The options for the axillary intake doors open or closed are a nice touch, as far as I'm aware no kit in any scale has them open.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

All very well and good, lovely SHAR's and all that....

but...

mutter,mutter, grumble....

WHERE ARE THE BUCCANEERS?!

I'm waiting, impatiently.....

It because the production funding has gone towards getting the new kits out such as SHARs, Mig-15 and of course Mossie, the Next batch of kits should be Ship based with 1/350th Illustrious and possibly Trafalgar (although she may be held back till later in the year), together with the reissued 1/600 Warspite & Iron Duke.

Both the Buccaneer & the RN Seaking have new parts sprues which puts them at the bottom of the funding pile, as the new kits get the glory and the straight unmodified re-issues are the cheapest. I suspect we will see them in the spring to fill the gap between the 2010 re-issues and new kits as we should start to hear news on that front over the next month or so....
Should be interesting to see what ideas they come up with for next year to maintain the momentum from this year (we already know about the 48th Sea Vixen and are eagerly awaiting news on the 72nd Vickers Valiant, but what new ideas have they in the pipe line and are there any more plans replace some of their older but popular subjects ? )

Radish

The reason the Valiant model was removed from the Airfix display at Telford on Saturday morning, was that the crew behind the desk pointed out to Trevor that Airfix are behind with their current release schedule and don't want to add any more pressure.
Methinks the Valiant will be some way off....2011/12??

KEEP THE VULCAN FLYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ChernayaAkula

Got a Hasegawa 1/72 F/A-18F Super Hornets Diamondbacks special (two kits included). Maybe these will be whiffed into a VX-9 "Vandy 1" all-black Super Hornet and a VFA-101 Grim Reapers bird.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

There aint any as they havent started the kit yet. The model at SWM was a built example donated by the Bomber Command SIG or either the Mach2 kit or probably the Contrail Vacform kit.

I suspect as Rad says that a Valiant kit would probably be the 2011 special edition kit as next year its the Sea Vixen in 1/48th scale, i mentioned it as its been rumoured for sometime but not officailly announced by Airfix as yet

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Mossie

Got some bits & bobs from Hannants myself, some modern Czech decals & a few Promodellers washes to try out.  I'm due a set of Swiss decals & a display case too, but I forgot to check their availability.  I hope the display case comes soon, it's meant for a Christmas present!

An Airfix 1/72nd BP Defiant for Biggles.
It's from "Biggles Defends The Desert" and has a key role towards the end. I know it's not the best kit, but I made it before (when it first appeared in the early/mid 1960s) and it'll be fun.
I've got two of them now, and one will be all black, but with desert colours on top surfaces with high fuselage demarcation. The other will be full desert colours, azure blue undersurfaces, etc.. Same aircraft, but just a different interpretation of how it looked. Whooooohooooooo :drink: :drink:

I spent a few hours today in the Westfield Centre, Derby, so did a thorough survey of Modelzone, meeting very nice people inside!!! Anyway, came away with a treat, of course, a 1/350th Revell U-boat Type VIIc....it'll be for Biggles (he comes across several in his wartime and post-war exploits. I already have one in 1/125th and that will now become intergalactic!!
