Greg,

I've got a FAW.2 blank available, so I can give some a crack if you like.  I also did a couple of Aussie & NZ variants a couple of years back that should be in my photobucket account.

The RAF were very interested & it could have beat the Javelin for the interceptor role if not for the crash of the DH.110.  In all likelyhood the Vixen would have been very similar to the Sea Vixen, so deleting the naval mods would probably be all you have to do.  Going by the Javelin, the RAF would probably have developed the Vixen to a greater extent & engine mods such as the Spey (or the Avon RA.24 with reheat that was proposed) would have been more likely to happen.  A 'thin wing development similar to Javelin upgrades may well have been on the cards.

If the RAF had taken it it opens up other Air Forces as candidates.  All of those you've mentioned Greg are also applicable for their Air Forces as well Navy, I'll add:
Canada
Australia
Israel
Belgium
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Aussie FAA would look very sharp in their old high-vis Venom scheme, or even the Scooter camouflage.

I did an Australian FAA Sea Vixen years back for John Baxters Australian book.

Got any pics Lee?

Not on any of the hard drives here, possibly on one of the back up Cds but they're buried in the loft at me Mams.  Fairly basic scheme of overall EDSG and small RAAF markings.  Looks very FAA-ish.

John Baxter's The Alternate RAAF and FAA is well worth tracking down though, even if I do say so myself and you are EIGHT years late!  I know I've seen a copy about on one of the trade stands recently.

I'll keep a look out for it, I think Lonewulf stocks his stuff.  They've got it listed on their site, but that doesn't always mean it's available.

They are good reads Simon, worth looking out for. Lonewulf have some on their website. http://www.lonewulfmodels.co.uk/category.php?c_id=26
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Wooksta!

I'm sure The Aviation Bookshop has one.

BTW Alistair of A2Zee has said in his latest news that they are working on a FAW1 conversion set with decals for the 1/48th Airfix Sea Vixen.

I just wish there was a decent (and affordable!) 1/72 Sea Vixen kit.  :(

Doubtfull we'll see affordable but the Cyberhobby wing of Dragon did list it in their 72nd warplane section of their catalogue, however unlike the ships the aircraft program appears to be woefully behind with only the Meteor released and the Hellcat & Helldiver being anywhere close to being produced to date.
