For whiffing purposes, the old Frog kit is more than adequate, although an Aeroclub bang seat and white metal u/c improves it no end.  It was one of the last ones Frog did and it's not that bad.

The High Planes one is still available, AFAIK.

Cyberhobby?  Affordable?  The Meteor is nigh on £30 and the engines are waaaaay oversized.  Expect the Vixen to be nearer £40 and some of the accuracy to be dubious.  Dragon always find a way to screw the pooch.

Forgotten the Hiplanes one.  Yes, it is still available.  Might consider that one.

Could be hard work - High Planes stuff is accurate but limited run and thus necessitates more clean up.  Their Sea Fury fought me every step of the way but was worth it in the end.  Probably easier for you to get over there and certainly cheaper.

I've encountered Hiplanes before and while "challenging" might be the best word, they aren't impossible.  Their Vixen costs $Au45.00 = £28 isn't over the top but it is at the top end of reasonable IMO (but then perhaps I'm just a cheapskate?  )

QuoteIf De Havilland had gone for a more daring approach, the Sea Vixen might have been the Sea Devil instead... But in the 1950s, no one was willing to develop forward-swept wing aircraft. Not that it has changed much, mind you...

some better Air ti Air weapons might be in order for a more international Vixen

Aim 4 Falcon
Aim 7 Sparrow
Aim 9 Sidewinders
Matra 530
matra 550 magic

all might be good options

I remember doing a Sea Witch as a whif version of Stephane's Sea Devil with tandem backward-swept wings and twin tails (ala Hawker P1214)

Here she is...

Excellent!

That's almost doable in plastic too............

I've got a FROG one already, which was destined for another Whiff that I posted on here AGES ago, but never got any further with. But if I find I have another one there's no contest really.  ;D

[Later] There's a singular lack of Sea Vixen kits on eBay, unless you count the exorbitant Dragon kit. But there's LOADS of die cast ones, crazy.  :banghead:

I've a Revell boxing somewhere I won't use if you can hang on for a bit.
