I needed a break  My legs are dim my eyes are old and bent
I haven't built anything without bashing it in many years and weather prevented me from painting today so I built this

I actually followed the instructions and modified almost nothing

This is called an SR-5 Siren from some anime thing called Crusher Joe  :o  Which I have never seen  I saw one of these built up on SSM and just thought it was the coolest thing so I got one off Evil bay. I was actually kinda disappointed cause it is so freakin small. It isn't but maybe 6" but now that I have built it I am glad I got it. It is an excellent model ,very well cast ,super parts fit. The only thing I don't like is the stand won't actually hold the model.Since it has the big ol fin sticking out the bottom (and no landing gear) it needs a stand but I didn't want to glue it to the one provided as then I couldn't fly it around the house . Well the vertical lift jets on the bottom are right at 1/8" diameter so I drilled em out .

I stuck 1/8 clear dowels in the holes. I'll cover em with cotton and paint it up like jet exhaust .

Just two things, according to Jane's All the Universe's Anime Spacecraft the type of putty used on the Siren was actually a few shades darker, and those upper fins look to be about 1/3° too vertical, but other than that I'd say you've nailed it!

This thing, out of the box, looks like it fits right in with your kitbashes.  Looks good.

Hiya Ron,

OOB....For us mere mortals a possibility.

For you.....  no PSR, not enough fins, not nearly enough guns, unlikely. ;D

That's a rather cool design.  Looks like the love child of a Shinden and an X-wing.

Now, a Siren is a winged being from Greek mythology, isn't it?  --> Aegean Ghost scheme!  :drink:

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

...gasp....

OOB.   No, not Sotoolslinger....,  not the master of kit bashing,  mr. Putty fu himself?

....what is the world coming to....

PS.  Neat looking model.  It should look pretty good when you get some paint on it.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Sometimes a break from whiffing is good.  However, if it's sci-fi, it's still technically whiffing. . .

sotoolslinger

Yeah well I will certainly whiff the paintjob so don't be scared

Yeah, if you'd said you'd kitbashed it, I'd have believed you.....

Nice one!

This is a pretty cool design, I wouldn't mind having one or three of these to tinker with  ;D

Which is probably why he chose that particular kit. Besides, do we really know he hasn't bashed it in any way???

Actually I am working on this right now installing very little putty, as it is a good kit. I am wondering where the guns are ,where the missiles come out or mount and if these engines dont need to be just a little bigger  :banghead:
