Maverick

Looks quite 'normal' at first glance Greg.  A quick look and you might just think it's an un-barbetted 410.  Quite a subtle whif.

Reminds me of a deHavilland Hornet.

The Wooksta!

It's nowhere near as graceful, elegant or pretty as De Havilland's finest.

Is there ANY aircraft that fulfills those qualifications?

It irritates me that although I was alive before they broke up the last Hornet I never actually saw one.  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Yes.  The Spitfire!  Plus the Hunter and Concorde.

You wouldn't get any argument from my Dad on the first, if he was still alive. Mike McEvoy would be right there with you on the second too.  ;D

Personally, I believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I like the single-seater 410.  It's own lines are quite pleasing to my eye.

More like amazing, actually.

Why get rid of the GIB to "save weight for better performance", then add virtually the same weight (80 kg) in the tail???

Unless...ALL Me-410's had the counterweight (?).
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

The 410 was a salvage of the Me 210 which was a total crock.  IIRC, Messerschmitt himself interfered with the design, shortening it to save weight, which threw off everything and it flew like a brick.  It took several years and many redesigns to sort it out.

Getting rid of the GIB in a 410 also entails the complete removal of the barbette gun system, which weighed far more
than 80kg. So, even with the installation of the fuel tanks, and the rest of the gear associated with the GM-1 nitrous
boost system, re-balancing of the CG would still be required.

Well Me 410 was called the Hornisse ("Hornet")  ;D

That was the look I was hoping for - now to model it and put on a Kriegsmarine carrier...
