What about a Spitfire with a Rolls-Royce Trent RB.50, driving the standard 5 blade prop and exhausting through bifurcated outlets at the rear of the wing roots?

The Trent is based on the Derwent, which was 84" (2135mm) long and 41.5" (1055mm) in diameter. For comparison, the Griffon was 30.3" (
770mm) wide, 46" (1168mm) high and 81" (2157mm) long.

Would you keep the original elliptical wings or change to reflect the later Spiteful/Attacker wings?

The Wooksta!

In which case, why not just build a completely new airframe?  Which they did - the Attacker.
