Wow, that engine is looking great! I like the weathering on the oil cooler and overall.

Cheers - most of that was accidental from handling it before it was properly dry!  ;D I decided it looked good so I left it.....

Okay, this thing would have been finished by now, but for my last-minute cock-ups, such as glueing the roof on before the screen (doesn't work that way...) and then finding out that the dash fouled the screen, etc....

A thought has struck me though: we're now nearly a month beyond the finish date and a fortnight beyond the end of the two week extension I asked for but never got a reply to. Is it fair to put it in the competition? I've had more build time than folk who finished in time for the deadline, and had that deadline been enforced, there is no way in hell that the Dragonfly would have been finished to any degree, let alone the degree I've managed.

I'm here for the fun, not the prizes, so if others agree with me, I have NO PROBLEM in declaring this build as "not in competition". What do you think?

Actually, I'm trying to devise some heavy "cargo" (i.e. loaded with metal) that will keep the nose down for now, but be removeable for a diorama later. How about a serious ghetto blaster?  ;D

Okay, 'tis done. Natural light photography tomorrow, but for the moment, here's some "studio" shots.

The Cheshire flags developed a white border during application which was NOT there when I cut them  :banghead:. I suspect that it's caused by cutting them with a craft knife......

I didn't add weight to the nose because it's eventually going to be suspended in a diorama and I didn't want to make it any heavier than neccessary. However, it turned out to be a tail sitter, so I came up with the idea of a heavy cargo for it to carry:

It's removable, of course:

And, being military, labelled:

And here's the new breakdownable "studio", which I can set up WITHOUT having to clear other projects off the modelling desk. Obviously, I'm going to make it a bit more sophisticated than this eventually. The lamp came from a sale at the work's photographic dept, for a devastating five pounds...

It's been a while coming Weave but worth it!  Love the engine & you've done a great job on the undercarriage.  The bars.lead are inspired too!  Maybe you could put the warning label on top of the container???
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Very nice, Weaver.  You did a great job with the details and the finish.

Hi Weaver we must think in similar ways. here is how I have added some nose weight to the SALSA, one of my entries for the SIG's display for Telford.

Cheers folks!

Jaybee - that looks interesting: any more details?

Nev - LOL: it was originally going to have twin fixed MGs under the forward fuselage and an elaborate door gun (because of the way the doors work), but during the build I decided I liked it better as an unglamorous workhorse. I always liked the slightly "put upon" air of Scouts; as if they were tireless little pit ponies, just doing their job....

Well, it needed a bit more forward weight, and as it was a freight carrier, amongst other things, I just thought a wooden crate would look right as it would be visible through the windows.
It is just a square box made from plasticard with some strips  to make it look like a wooden crate.
Inside it is full of small fishing weights (my local takle shop has a load of old lead shot that they can not sell to anyone, other than me!, any more) and painted, very roughly, to look like wood.

I have used the box, filled with these weights, before in my Provider C-2 but without any disguise.

In this case as it is Russian I did not attempt to put any writting on it like you did, as I am afraid that my Crylic writing is not up to scratch.
I did think of it though.
