Tirpitzski Update!

RBU-6000 Mortars forward mount - under the forward CIWS, in an old 20mm position.
Kite Screech radars for the four AK-130 gun mounts - in place of the old 10.5cm AA Directors
SA-N-7 mounts - placed and painted - blast deflector necessity questionable.
Helipads - expanded and extended - now comparable in size to Udaloy class DDG
CIWS - all now with barrels mounted - seem to be short four, might be delayed for acquisition.
SA-N-9 - forward of the forward S-300F launchers - should drill and mount actual launchers soon.  Klinok radars planned on top of forward and aft main gun directors in place of old radars.
Top Dome - bulked out the tower, painted the tower.
Superstructure - Forward Block fixed in place now, painted.  Aft block now painted and glued down.

End of report - Pictures!

Sweet!! I would add some more structure underneath the helipads, other than that moving along very well.

For the most part, there's only a half inch of deck that sticks out off the back - I plan, though, on putting angled braces in under the helipads to secure them up.  There's a slight overhang of the helipads aft, as well, but it's nothing overly drastic - the Udaloys have the same on the sides of the helipads.

Wow it is looking O so very Soviet!

If you hadn't told me it was the tirpitz I wouldn't have known!

I really like this and it gives me ideas for some future projects.

As Sisko said, this has a very Soviet look to it!

One thing, although it might be too late now, but how about angling the Bazalt launchers as on the Slava-class cruiser? May look a bit more menacing that way.

It might look more menacing, CA, but I decided not to build the slant-racks, even if it would mean I could have put in more missiles - the mountings would also interfere potentially with Turret Caesar, so I decided the pop-up launchers like the Kievs would be a more practical choice of mounting.

Yarrsauce on pancakes, here be an update - I haven't actually done work on Tirpitzski in a few days, I've been soaked up in working on the Koya, but I've done work before that and didn't take any pics.  So, here's the updates - four out of six Front Dome radars are in place, the two Cross Swords radars are in place - I said to hell with the gun directors after one of them broke trying to get it off the sprue.  I have one of the boats in place, the stack is down, the cap is on.  Three of four turrets are prepared for gun barrels but not fixed in place just yet for ease of painting.  That said, here's da pics!

Thanks, guys.  Yeah, the details and planning I'm putting into this project are certainly right up there.  Vladivostok has the same ammount of planning and consideration in it with regards to its weapons systems and deployment there of.  I'll admit, with aircraft or armour, I'm not as fully detailed in the construction, and I kinda fudge details here and there, but when I know what does what, I make sure that it can do what I say it can do.

Alright, As Promised for a while, I have UPDATES!  I've been building like a mofo on this boat, and she's damn near finished.  I just have to put a few more boats on the hangars, put the helo on the pad, cut and slide the second one, and do a little more paint up on the tower.  Radars are in place, all of them, I converted the old stack searchlight covers for radomes, thus the white colour by comparison, ostensibly for a surface search set.  The helipads are a little crude, I will admit, but I started with a stencil cut off the Trumpy Slava's decal sheet for the outer ring and the rest was hand painted.  She's almost finished.

So there ya go - Questions, Comments, Queries and Rude Remarks, as always, welcome and invited.

I dont know, to me, the 2 helipads just look wrong. But that's just my own preference.. I'm a traditionalist.. I think helipads belong either at the stern or along the long axis somewhere in the center.
