Just sportted on Hannants future releases that Mach2 are going to be issuing a US Navy Martin P6M2 Seamaster flying boat with beaching gear. Expected April 2009.

Having seen some of the previous Mach 2 products in the box.  I wonder if they will have "cleaned up their act" with this one? An injection molded Seamaster would be nice but only if it is done right.

It'll probably cost an arm and a leg too, but where else could you get one? Specially with that awesome beaching trolly?

I've been 'building' (the word 'building' here is used in its widest possible sense.....) an Airmodel vacform Seamaster since forever, and I STILL don't have a decent canopy fitted to it. That's after rejecting the kit version and trying to mould 4-5 of my own.

I'll start saving now I think............ :)

For some reason I thought the ancient Revell kit had a beaching cart, and trying to verify that mistaken notion I tripped over this Seamaster page:

Some interesting ideas on 1950's politics, which I've seen before.  A bomber with B-47 performance and no need of a destroyable airfield?  Sounds good to me.

Hm,, you could build a pretty good 'Alternative History' kicking off with both the Martin Seamaster and the Convair Sea Dart working well and being bought in Squadron numbers. Perhaps a few FY-2s (production Convair Pogos) for close in work etc.?

I feel a writing session coming on :)

Folks,

If it be a 72nd scale Seamaster you're after, then why not the Anigrand kitting?

http://www.anigrand.com/AA2061_XP6M-1.htm

This, especially if this latest Mach 2 release is anywhere similar in quality to their other renderings.

But as usual with anything Anigrand, I'd have to sell my house first.........  :o

And it doesn't come with the beaching trolley by the look of the components. Mach2 may make strange and unfitting kits but they tend to supply the add-on bits too, like the launch trailers for the Ryan X-13 and Coleoptere.

Mind you, it does say that Anigrand will supply the canopy and decals for the Seamaster separately, so all may not be lost...........

I can confirm the lack of beaching trolley
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Hi Kit,

My earlier post should have had an added suggestion saying why not contact Arnold at Anigrand (seems my ongoing problem of getting around here still persists)

Robert,

I just thought you were being VERY inscrutable............... :)

Thanks for the thought, I may just do that. It would at least give that huge vacform in my 'Pending' model box another lease of life!

Someone has been able to build the Mach2 P6M Seamaster kit and it looks quite impressive.

I read the comparison on ARC ( ? ? ? ?) between the two kits, and even after reading it, I'd still buy the Anigrand kit.  I'm not one to look for "accuracy" since I'm a die-hard Whiffer, and knowing Mach2's reputation for weirdness in their kits (warping, over-flash, brittle plastic, things not fitting where they are supposed to) compared to Anigrand (things fitting with minimal effort, resin (easy modification with little regret)), where the price is nearly the same, I'm saving up for the Anigrand kit.  If I really want accurate with Anigrand, I'll shave down the kit to "accurate" and not have to put up with Mach2's Russian Roulette plastic.

Whoop-de-do, I get the beaching gear with Mach2!  Like I can't scratch build it from my parts boxes...

Looks like the first injection moulded Super King Air kit is being done by Mach 2 in 1/72nd scale. This is one of my grail kits but from their dodgy reputation I'll wait to see a review before I get one! Scroll down about half way for a pic from Modelstories. http://modelscale.free.fr/reportages/M2010_P/girls.html
Also they are doing a gun turret from the Bismark and an American Vietnam era patrol boat in 1/72nd.

Further down is Fonderie's 1/48th Horsa glider.
