Y'know, if that were available in real life, I'd ache to be an owner/pilot.

Excellent work Kitnut! The engines look like they were meant to be there all along.

Agreed, superb work.

Confuscious (maybe)

Splashed a bit of paint around the office, nothing fancy though as you can't see too clearly through the "glass" anyway, Should be able to button up the fuselage halves later today:

Great work, Robert....looks like 48th scale to me ! What did you use for the seatbelts ? A very nice touch. Tell the boys that nobody is ever going to win if they both keep chosing 'rock' !

Cheers Todd, the seatbelts I made out of Tamiya tape.  I've been experimenting with how I'm going to do the camo and had these thin strips of tape made up and they looked just about right for the belts, a bit of paint on top and it looked convincing.

Fuselage is together and the PSR starts ( a bit anyway).  Did a trial fit up with it on it's wheels and it stays on all three -- yehaa! Plenty of prop clearance too so some smaller main wheels will be OK.

Looks great right there!

Maybe it's been said before, but this has a very "Wild Geese"-look to it.
Cheers,

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Someone posted a good year or two ago about a Model Shop in the San Fransanciso area that had the Basset & other classic kits.  They were going really cheaply, that model goes for silly money here in the UK because it's been oop for so long.  If you can find the thread & the shop, maybe they'll still have some left for you guys in the US?  Hopefully Airfix will release this one as it's an oldie but a goodie.

When the JMN's see what Robert has done with the Basset, they'll hang, draw, quarter him, then sh!t on the reamains!  Really, it's that much of a desired kit over here.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

If I go to England again I'll shave my beard off, no one will recognize me then ------   Come to think about it, when it's done I'll post some piccies on Britmodeler and see what happens ------  :dalek: :dalek:

Mind you I wouldn't mind getting this release: http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=10282&searchtext=beagle

And thanks again everyone for your comments.

Really liking this build.

There is one of these in the Collection I am selling.  It is the MPC kit and he wants $20 for it.  Course, now he wants to just sell the entire collection all together.  Maybe I need to keep it for myself and just send him the payment when I return the collection

Hit a bit of a snag last night, when I went to glue the windshield on I found very large gaps between the clear part and the fuselage right in the corners of the vertical post where it goes horizontal.  At the top it fitted fine and across the fuselage at the top and bottom edges also fitted quite well.  This would mean that the vertical post would have to have a taper to it and fortunately after studying some photos, this is what it's supposed to have.

I thought about just filling it in with putty but then the putty would be visible on the inside so I've glued some thin strips of styrene to the offending edges, and will have to do some very careful trimming.  Once that's done I can paint the insides before I glue the windshield on.

It came out OK --sort off, I still had to do some PSR and now I've got to find my very fine sand paper to clean the scratches off the clear parts.  None of the clear parts actually fitted very well, the two rear windows do not follow the compound curve of the rear cabin at all and I've had to file it into shape.

I decided to add a couple of small strakes to the rear, which will be explained once the back story comes together.
