Yes, I'd thought of the Vampire, but I was also thinking of the Teddy Petter link, with his Westland Whirlwind being the 'AnE-1'

Update as promised.  Undercoating almost done (the mad turquoise interior canopy framing yet to be done).  So it's the Airfix Lightning plus Kopro Su-9 parts as can be seen.  In addition to the fin, rudder and missile pylons (and eventually the missiles themselves) I've used a number of the various intakes, aerials (including the Odd Rods IFF aerials), and nose pitot.  The wing pitots are made from plastic rod and thewing fences from a pair of Matchbox Lightning F6 overwing fuel tank pylons. 

Still bits of tidying up to do before top coating.  ;D ;D

I always said the Lightning looks like a pregnant MiG-21... this just makes it closer.  The only thing that could make it more real, would be if she had the same tailed delta setup of a MiG-21, then the resemblance would be just uncanny.
