You know, if we can swing it, a perfect timing for this GB to either kick off, or end, would be the Luftwaffe's birthday.  I don't have the date on the top of my head, but that would be awesome.

For next year maybe - On 26 February 1935, Adolf Hitler ordered Hermann Göring to establish the Luftwaffe.  That's probably the closest to an official birthday one would get.

WOW! This latest (May,2009) issue is chock full of "Luftwaffe Alternatives", with a Focke-Wulf "Triebflugel" on the cover.
The "Wunder Waffen" article has typical "Luft '46 stuff".

THEN...there is a completely separate article on the He-100/He-113.

WHIF Heaven!

Then...near the back, is this contemporary poster of Heinkel's!

Or I could ressurect this old girl that only got half done for the last Secret Santa build.  It pretty much bit the dust after I trod on the canopy, I can't think of anything else that could replace it.

IMHO this is just a beauty that must be done. Pleeeeease!

Thanks Carlos! I really would like to finish it, just got to work out what to do with the canopy.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hmmmmm, I've got a Ta183 in the stash for a Luft 46 build, an Hs123 for a straight 'paints kits differently' build and a P-36 secured from our very own Cap'n Radish which would look d*mn good in Weimar
'neutrality' markings. Also got that RoG 1:32 Bf109K that a bloke gave me for gratis..... Legion Kondor 1944 anybody ?

i was thinking that maybe the luftwaffe got there hands on the blueprints for the P-51.
i got this idea from watching "Aces: Iron Eagle 3".
a P-51B was repainted to look like a German Me.109  ;D

catch a glimps of it here

I think they had managed to capture a few P-51s makes you wonder why they didn't copy them and fight fire with fire.

>I think they had managed to capture a few P-51s makes you wonder why they didn't copy them and fight fire with fire.<

They didn't need another fighter aircraft to try to manufacture and train pilots on at that stage of the war, and the P-51 wasn't inherently all that much better than their Fw-109's. The Mustang had an enormous, efficient logistic and maintenance infrastructure and organization behind it that the Germans couldn't begin to duplicate with their own planes. The P-51 used Merlin engines and 100-octane gasoline, both nearly unattainable in Germany.

What Germany REALLY needed was better fuel supplies, better pilot training, better manufacturing tolerances, and just MORE of everything than they had. The Mustang itself wasn't a war-winner, just an adjunct of a SYSTEM that overwhelmed Germany with quality and quantity.

Imagine the possibilities

ah yes, the CFA-66 Nosferatu from Ace Combat 6, man it was a pain in the arse to shoot that thing down.
especially if its protected by UAV's controled by the plane itself

i have just been thinking of idea's for a Luft '46 German nuclear bomber, as only a few years ago evidence appeared that germany was close to building its first A-bomb.

furtthermore, as i was looking at my recently aquired 1/72 SU-15's, its strange to imagine how good they would lookin German WW2 colors as Luftwaffe interceptors armed with Ruhrstahl X-4 AAM's with an extended range  ;D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruhrstahl_X-4

thats it, im pumped on idea's now, i wanna enter this GB
