Execuform or Combat Wings?  It was some micey outfit I'd barely heard of.  IIRC, they were doing a Saro Princess too.

HURRAH!    Both Brabazon AND Princess models.     The  tricky bit will be affording them, assuming that Mrs  Rheged  will  let me have several acres of shelf space.  A Queen's Flight Brab and "Her Majesty's Air Yacht"  Princess would  look  suitably majestic if finances and workbench space ever permit.

I rather fancy the high altitude Brabazon PR3  with the extended wings and a couple of  extra podded  Conways too!    I can  hear the PVO-STRANY  all flying North to boggle at the mammoth capitalist aircraft  trundling along at 55,000 feet near Spitzbergen, whilst  "that Meteor"  is unleashed elsewhere.

Their earlier big glass fibre/resin kits were a bit crude, but they have been improving and the surface finish and engraved detailing on the Brabazon look quite good and Ken doesn't seem to be anticipating any major problems with the build. Price-wise though - - - - :o

Although even that may not put some people off, if last Sunday's experience is anything to go by. As rumours spread about the Brabazon, following loose talk on the What If stand (Thanks OGL!), the Soviet Aircraft SIG stand at Milton Keynes became more and more like the front for some illicit drug operation.  For most of the afternoon people would sidle up to the stand, pretend to study the models, look nervously over their shoulders and whisper out of the side of their mouths "Pssst - - - - Martin sent me - - - - he says you've got a Brabazon under the table - - - - " All that was missing was Tony Soprano muscling in on the action - "I warned you losers that I run the Brabazon concession in this part of the world – get rid of them Chris - - - "

BLIMEY!!!  Even dearer than I imagined! :o :o :o
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The price however may deter most !!!!!!!

AAAAGH!!!!!   I am most comprehensively deterred.

The way prices are going, it will be cheaper to wind up the old Tardis and go back to 1950 to buy one of the original prototypes.

There is a vacform from the states but even that's over £100!

Even at that price I'm still deterred!

Agreed, a wingspan of about 3 foot 2 inches is somewhat inconvenient............and given that one day I want to try a 1/72 Princess at about 2foot 11 1/2 inches  wingspan ..........     I can see Mrs R  becoming an  unhappy camper.

The cost of these large kits is because the main parts are actually individually hand-laid fibreglass parts.  I've got the An-22 kit and the fuselage comes complete as does the wing.  All the little bits are injection, there's PE and vacuform parts (interior walls)

Always liked the look of the AN-22...

My friend Steve Gardner, sent me a whole bunch of detail photos he took of the one on display at Speyer.  It's built like the proverbial brick poo-poo-house, more like a ship than a plane.
