The Su-1

Yes, there were two other kits of this aircraft - one from AER Moldova (proclaimed to be 1/48, but actually in 1/57 scale) and the other by the company from Odessa named Malen'kiy Mir (Little World), also produced under the labels SIGA Models and Interavia. This kit was 1/72 short-run but VERY crude and incorrect:

We all were afraid that AModel will repack this... Fortunately they made their own kit!

Hmm, I like the look of that too. Looks like it has a turbo-supercharger and a pressurised cabin as well? Is that correct?

Actually, the I-135 (later redesignated Su-1) was designed as a "fighter with increased altitude performance"; it had turbo-superchargers but no pressurized cockpit. But maybe in some Whif-world in which Su-1 achieved production status, it could evolve into "true" high-altitude interceptor - with pressurized cockpit, and probably with extended wings as well...

Amodel's Russian Shuttle is up for review on Modellversium.  Looks a bit rough around the edges, but fairly typical for Amodel.

$ 175? Bloody hell!

I believe it's one of their multimedia jobs.  Fibreglass resin or some such for the major components and costs quite in keeping with other 'larger' aircraft they've produced.

Not sure if this is new or not, but the big H have it in now:

The I-17 is new, and I was hoping it was at Hendon...it wasn't  :-X

I think I've a resin one somewhere you can have.  It cost me about £2 a few years back and looks a very simple build.  Old CMK standard.

Hannants have the Brabazon in, amongst others (but casting a damn great shadow over them all, no doubt):

Being neither independently wealthy nor the owner of a large enough house, I doubt I'll be seeing one soon. Be lovelt to whiff one though, wouldn't it? I was thinking of an early AWACS with EC-121 Warning Star style domes: you know, as ugly as possible..... :wacko:

And just for Kit  ;D, a Yak-25RV/RRV Mandrake (I think that's the weather recon version isn't it?):

Hehehe, oh yes, MY kind of aeroplane!  :thumbsup: And thanks for the PM too, much appreciated.

The Mandrake was the exact equivalent of the U-2, a high altitude PR aircraft that was later adapted to any other task that needed high altitude flight performance. I'm glad to see the kit, I have the Broplan vacform and it's not easy, those mega-wings are a pain to build straight. Thank you A Model!  :drink:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

I've also been waiting on the Yak 25RV.  I was surprised to find that they hadn't made one when I bought my bog-standard Yak 25.
