The Su-1

Yes, there were two other kits of this aircraft - one from AER Moldova (proclaimed to be 1/48, but actually in 1/57 scale) and the other by the company from Odessa named Malen'kiy Mir (Little World), also produced under the labels SIGA Models and Interavia. This kit was 1/72 short-run but VERY crude and incorrect:

We all were afraid that AModel will repack this... Fortunately they made their own kit!

Hmm, I like the look of that too. Looks like it has a turbo-supercharger and a pressurised cabin as well? Is that correct?

Actually, the I-135 (later redesignated Su-1) was designed as a "fighter with increased altitude performance"; it had turbo-superchargers but no pressurized cockpit. But maybe in some Whif-world in which Su-1 achieved production status, it could evolve into "true" high-altitude interceptor - with pressurized cockpit, and probably with extended wings as well...

I believe it's one of their multimedia jobs.  Fibreglass resin or some such for the major components and costs quite in keeping with other 'larger' aircraft they've produced.

I think I've a resin one somewhere you can have.  It cost me about £2 a few years back and looks a very simple build.  Old CMK standard.

Hehehe, oh yes, MY kind of aeroplane!   And thanks for the PM too, much appreciated.

The Mandrake was the exact equivalent of the U-2, a high altitude PR aircraft that was later adapted to any other task that needed high altitude flight performance. I'm glad to see the kit, I have the Broplan vacform and it's not easy, those mega-wings are a pain to build straight. Thank you A Model!
