Maverick

Welcome aboard BM

Looking very Nice,  I particularly like the lower chute & fitout in general.

Regards,

Mav

BrittMac

Thank you Maverick.
I have MORE to post......I have painted a few bits, but nothing earth shattering.
This scheme is pretty simple.  Grey and a little black.
I have painted some sensors, antenna, the 40mm feed hose-looking thing, and just the ends of what the 20mm barrels will stick out of.  Oh, and the 20mm barrels in the wings and the exhaust too.

Simple stuff, but I am that much closer to being done.  I have to paint the prop, add another antenna, some aerials (whips), and later on I am going to add some gas bags for it.  May actually put a gas bag on the right wing to balance out some drag issues, and a nice tidy sensor like a Lantirn pod on the left wing.  That is for the future though.

This is with no flash in a room with two overhead flourencent(sp?) lights.  It is still a slightly darker picture than in person, but I didn't want to lighten in with photoshop either.

This is with flash, and on the gun side.  Like stated earlier, I painted a few sensors black, and some other little bits.

And one more WITH flash.  The paint is supposed to be just a little mottled, but the flash really picks up the thin spots in the paint.  Ugh.

OH, and the color that I mixed turns out to be just a hair darker than the MM Gunship Grey.  I had to make a small fix above the teardrop shaped sensor where the masking tape lifted some of the paint.  It is a touch lighter, but not bad unless you are really looking for it...... But of course I see it like a beacon.

I am gonna try and fill the compressor before the wife falls asleep (right now) and put a coat of grey on her.

Boy is your wife going to be pissed when she wakes up with a coat of grey on her........... ;D

Looking good BM - it has a bit of an improvised-in-the-field feel about it, like early gunship helos......

Great build!

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Haha, i need to lay off the cerveza whilst typing.......

An improvised feel is perfect, because this is definitely an improvised aircraft.  Off the shelf component through and through.  Stuff that wouldn't be missed by bean counters.  Sounds like an old prop chugging through the night, which it is, and it wouldn't sound too out of place over a jungle.  Until it speaks.

I will work on it a little more, either Tuesday, or later this week.  Gotta go to work right now.  Take care and thanks for the encouragements!

Green with envy over here.   This is exciting.  I want to build a copy just so I can "fly" it round the house...

I am sad to say that I have not finished this little kit yet.  I had training on Weds.  I had unforseen (read:  surprise!) training on Thurs.  Friday.... guests coming in from out of town....Saturday, attending a wedding with the guests.  Argh.

But, I am in the process of picking up another AD-4W kit so that I can make use of the __________ guns that I got on another kits.  Hehe.  Can you say, "Son of Spectre"?

Really, all it "have" to do is paint the prop and put the barrels on, and I can call it done.  No decals, because she doesn't want anyone to know who she is blowing stuff up for.  She is a secretive mistress this one is.  Who does she work for?

Okay, I may put some decals on her.  I just don't know yet.

BrittMac

Well, work has really bitten into my time on this girl, BUT, I got the guns and wheels on.  It is essentially done, just some very minor stuff to do and I may be able to put up a pic tomorrow evening.  She is grey grey grey grey.  And I was talking about the kit, not my wife weaver!  The wife would wake up and kill me before I covered a square inch.

On another note, the Ghostraider may have a sister ship coming online soon.  I had really bad luck getting one of these on swap boards or on Ebay, then I had to bite the bullet and just pay for one on ebay that turned out to be in sad shape.  I thought the auction stated the Fuse was together and cockpit painted, but EVERY exterior surface had paint (while still on the sprue mind you).  Not one coat but two.  It appears an undercoat of enamel Sea Blue with possibly acrylic flat Sea Blue on top.  Odd, but sanding is in progress.  I may be able to save it.
I don't know what bits I have to use for a sensor suite, but I think I have some good stuff for the bits that spit out the hot lead.

Pics will be up as soon as possible.  Cheers!

Oh....you guys are gonna make me blush.  Wait, I am an upstanding, tough, resourceful dude.  I don't blush!

But I will post a pic or three!

Ok, here are a couple of pics of the GhostRaider with her guns installed, wheels on, and sensor glass on....finally.  No future coats or anything.  Just the flat coat of paint she got two weeks ago (no, not the wife....).
With the wheels black she looks like the fat kid in class with black sneakers on.  A bit ungainly, but watch out if her weight comes to bear on you!
Alrighty then......moving on.
I have several ideas, which I hope are good, for the successor to the -A model.  The next model will be more focused on anti-personnel, where the -A model is more capable against vehicles and hardened targets.  It will still have bite though.  Oh, and it may not be ready for the end of the GB, but I really don't care.  I just want to build it now, which is why I like this site.  I don't really think you guys will care if it is done before the end of the GB.

I may give her a Future coat, then a dullcoat, but I dunno her fate yet.  Still may put some stores under her wing.  Here is the current look.  I want to figure out how to put some countermeasure on her....but I have limited ideas as of yet.  I don't want to just paint a spot black and say its a flare pot....
