According to Dragon USA Zvezda are going to reissue the Sukhoi Su24 kit in April with some new parts. http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlusa/prodd.asp?pid=ZVE7265
They also say the 767-300 kit is a new tool, everyone else says it's the Revell kit, anyone know for sure? http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlusa/prodd.asp?pid=ZVE7005

Isn't Dragon USA the general importer of Zvezda stuff for the US?  If that's so, I'd say they should probably know best. Especially if they highlight that it's a new tool.

The original Revell 767-300 had 41 parts, and I think only three sprues, so if Zvezda reckon theirs has 72 it must be a new tool. Mind you, where they get all those extra bit from I'm not sure.

It's be nice to have a 767 kit where you don't have to change the engines for once, the Revell kit had hybrid GE/P&W ones, no matter which choice you made you had to modify it for accuracy. That's not counting the relatively rare Gulf-BA version which had R-R RB-211s supplied as well.

Let's hope it's not so different from the Revell one that the existing range of Braz add-ons will still fit.

If they are doing a new tool I would have though they would have gone for the -200 (he said selfishly, knowing that he could get a JASDF E-767 and KC-767 out of that model ;) )

Nev,

It's a lot easier to make a -200 out of a -300 than vice versa. I've done that a couple of times with the Revell kit.

I think they should have done a -400, then EVERYone would be happy. :)

A -400 can't be shortened into a -200 or -300 though... (and revell does not have window inserts for their kit)

It can't? Who says so? This IS the What If Forum you know......

Revell doesn't even have windows in the 767 of any sort, apart from the front one that is. If Zvezda are including umpteen tiny window mouldings to get the part count up they must be taking marketing lessons from Trumpeter.  >:(

Given their sublime Mi-26, I have every faith that Zvezda will produce another stunner.

i'm building this kit at the mo' [well the recce version anyhow].

it goes together quite well though the fit of the intakes is appalling.

however, if i can buy another i will do as it has been an enjoyable build.

This is the reissued Dragon Fencer C with the shorter nose, the extra bits are two sprues of the Dragon Soviet Bomb sets rather than the Air to Surface missile supplied in the Su24M kit. The Su-24MR kit that Trev's building is the M kit with an extra sprue for the Recon or EW variants and no weapons sprue.

The best kit to get is the current Revell issue as again its a Zvezda bagged Su-24M with the comprehensive decal sheet that Revell do,much improved over the Zvedza decals.

Trev One note with the recon variant, for some reason Dragon kept the Fencer D nose for the Fencer E and just provided the new lumps and bumps, the Fencer MR/MP should have a new nose, the same size as the M but with a Avionics bays ahead the cockpit and the radome itself much shorter. The box artwork shows the correct nose, but the kit is sadly amiss.

I believe the 764 has a new modified wing, 777 landing gear w. mods, 777 cockpit, 777 tires, 777 toilets, 777 cabin, 777 pax windows,  and taller tail. Quite a bit must be done to make a 764 into a 763...

(and did you know that the 777 was mentioned 7 times in this post? ;D)

If I can make a double-decked 767-200 out of a -300 (and you can make a Tu-134 out of a DC9.... ;)) changing a -400 into a -300 should be a doddle. :)

I wouldn't plan on modelling the cabin, toilets and windows anyway. I use decals for the latter, it's much easier.......... :)

And I managed not to mention that triple sevened no. once, but it was hard work!

The toilets are the most important part, eh Thomas! ;D

Talking of Zvezda & whiffs, they do the Kamov Ka-58 Black Ghost kit, a next generation attack helicopter on the lines of the Ka-52.  Most will have seen it as it's been around a little while.  I've got the Revell boxing & fit looks fine after bit of dry fitting, might be on my build list very soon.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

No Worries Trev, i was just pointing out the clanger they made, still would look good in 2 sqdn or 13 sqdn Tornado colors, see if somebody asks when did they do a side by side seated Tornado
