Agree, very fast looking.  Would look great in 'war prize' colours about to be flight tested by Eric Brown.

Quote from: Mossie on March 30, 2025, 09:06:18 AMI believe they're all twin engined, the C.1 and N.1 have another mounted on the underside.

The bottom engine would be a good candidate for tail strike on rotation then! The 'two on top' version makes a lot more sense really.

Funny you should say that Dave...............................  ;)  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

A bit like a miniature Javelin?

That's what I was thinking.

If I get one it might get genuine Javelin sqn markings just for the riot value. I would also scheme a version with three engines.

I built their P.60C boxing 10 years ago. I made it as an early 50s US fighter/interceptor, so  a whif2 - a whif of a whif:

The two Allison J35 engines are from a Victoria Products 1/72 XB-43. Overall, it was a pretty nice build, even though it was heavily modified.

PR19_Kit

That looks pretty plausible, it's got 'Northrop' written all over it!

And with the engines where you have them there's very little chance of a tail strike too.

Reconfigure the fins and you'd get Father of Cutlass.

Mossie

Just for clarification, this is an entirely new tool compared to the earlier AZ kit, not a re-release.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

One of those very well could be my second kit purchase of the year.

I wonder why. Other than the older tech molding, the original was pretty well detailed and fit well.

Mould wear out maybe? Is it a particularly popular kit?

I fancy the C-5, perhaps with a couple of X-4 missiles ?

I was thinking that a C-5 could carry more than a couple of those, then realized you didn't mean the product by Lockheed.

I have one of the original releases which had Japanese and NASA and Soviet decals. Gotha P.60 C-1.

Think I paid £11 for it in the MPM shop in Prague in 2013. These new ones are £28  :o

I wonder if the original moulds were worn out totally or if they were damaged in some way. Wasn't there a warehouse fire about 5 years ago?

jcf

Nothing very interesting in the paint and marking schemes.

Well the ONS's core inflation rate over that period is 46.6%, whilst using the BoE's Inflation Calculator (which goes back to 1209  ;D ) you get £15.14.  However like all good statistics that means "B" all as they are purely averages and I bet the ONS's "basket" doesn't include plastic model kits  ;)
