Been working on the Washington today, a lot of masking and painting has been completed. It is looking pretty good if I say so myself I am now working on the props and under carriage so it should be on its legs soon. Work on the payload will continue once I finsh the major work on the Washington. Some decalling shound be done tomorrow. Pictures in the next update.

OK, I couldn't wait :D I just nipped to the bench and took a few pictures.

All paint, no decals at this stage.

Well she is on her wheels now (and not with out a little drama). I thought I had added more than enought nose weight and guess what it was a tail sitter!

I had to prize off the forward bombay doors to add more lead. Anyway after some spilt super glue that weight was added and forward bomb bay closed up again. There is a remedial work required to clean up the seams and remove the excess glue that made its way onto the fuselage.

Splashed some paint on the drone, it may be redone yet. Also need to add a couple of bomb racks to it.

The damage...

After the repair work the gear doors need to go on and the props as well, though I have painted the props up and I am not sure if Ilike they way they look, they may be repainted as well.

Looking fantastic Ray.
I particularly like the retention of the bomb aimer's window, and the addition of eyebrow windows, both so typically RAF.
However that begs the question, is it going to be RAF, or maybe RAAF, or maybe.................?
Last question, have you added a bit of sweepback to the Jindivik's wings? It looks like it in the photos.

Thanks for a great start to the new year,

JimB

Jim, it will be RAAF. The swept sections on the tips of the wings are in fact the vertical stabs supplied in the Jindivik kit (you get 2 of them). You are supposed to scratch build the outer wing section for the hi-alt version but I used the vertical stabs instead.

Well what else can go wrong?  After resealing the forward bomb bay, I puttied the seams and then wet sanded them. As the model was wet and wanting to get on with finishing it I put the model out in the sun to dry out a bit quicker. On returning to the model later in the afternoon I found a white 'deposit' on the inside of some of the windscreen panels  :banghead: What to do? I thought about painting the cockpit windows over in black to hide the mess but then decided to see if I could pop the clear parts off and give them a clean. If it stuffed this up then I could just put them back on and paint them over anyway.

It went better than I thought, only one minor crack that will be hardly noticeable. Here is a picture of the clear pieces removed before clean up.

I hit the insides of the clear bits with Micro System polishing compound. The residue came off fairly easily. I then buffed the pieces up both inside and out, coated them with future and then glued them back into place.

The clear pieces now look better for it and all I have to do it to tend to the seams and some repainting.

Stay tuned for the next installment.
