How many are old enough to remember SPACE CRUISER YAMATO (aka STARBLAZERS)?  The premise was that the Gamillon Empire had bombarded planet Earth with so much radiation that the oceans had dried up and humanity lives underground.  A different set of aliens sends Earth some new technology.  Earth then builds a Space Cruiser out of the wreck of the Yamato and proceeds to do some alien butt kicking.
Given that the Yamato was a success and the technology works, what would the US version look like?

Like this idea.  Always wondered why it was just the Yamato (other than it was a Japanese show).

Looks very good with F-4 wings! Also think the location of the wings is well-chosen!

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

KNowing about Space Cruiser Yamato is less about age and more about geek level. Being a fairly high level geek (long term SF fan and Multimedia teacher) I have known about SCY since I was about ten years old (ie: fifteen years).
I have also built my share of wet navy to void navy conversions.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Dragon, Mi panita, esto está bravísimo

Nice take on the heavyweight US version. I wonder how many improvements over the classic SCY you're gonna include

Great idea, just got to do the Space Crusiers Hood, Bismarck, Arizona, heck, even Kursk or General Belgrano!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

It's coming along very nicely. Have you considered calling it the Space Cruiser Whiff-consin?
