Ron, I don`t know what your feeding them on but your modelling gremlins are getting bigger. Their not just interfering with the builds, now their flyin` em.

Mossie, that brings back memories of when i was hairier, thinner and bought that single for 2/6p ish. !968 an just 14, still it brought home the dangers of smoking in bed. I still never lie in bed, she might ask me to prove it. ;D

Great choice of pilot!  Who's gonna drive the other one?

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Well I can't find an Angelic pilot so he will have to be just some dude ;D But he will be a modern day Crusader  I am in the process of painting the demon dude right now. It's been like 20 years since I last painted a mini though

a small washer painted gold should work out just fine on a 1/48th figure...

Can't go wrong with Arthur Brown can you???  Ron has this way of bringing back memories of childhood (although Arthur is a fair bit before my time, said while ducking Gary's swipe!), music, TV series, films, it all comes flloding when I see his builds.  Keep it up Ron!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

How about an adapted Warhammer 40k Space Marine figure? They might just work in 1/48.

And WH40k should give some nice ideas for heraldic on the wings. Like the dude in the middle here:

And add "In hoc signo vinces" to the banner at his feet.

Or the winged sword on the vertical stabs!

WOW - I'd lost track of this one (much less time for t'internet these days): NICE RECOVERY RON!

As a matter of interest, that crackle finish used to be created deliberately on 1970s/early 1980s custom bikes and cars. The custom paint manufacturers make special "crackle" top coats without the "flexibility" ingredient that stops normal paint from shrinking as it dries (they charge extra for leaving it out too....). Painters learnt how to control the size and density of cracking by how heavily they lathered the stuff on, the time delay between coats etc.....

!PING! Just remembered, Plasticote do such a thing for interior decor-type applications. Don't know if it's fine enough for modelling. They also do a textured stone-effect paint for turning cheap plastic vases into "classy" stone ones: always wondered what it'sdlook like sanded down....
