Don't ever let having a dozen projects on the go stop you from taking on a new one!

Had this idea to turn the Lindberg 1:48 Snark missile into a full-blown two-seater Fighter-Bomber but back then the kits were OOP and ridiculously overpriced on Evil-Bay.  I had one in the stash but was kind of worried about hacking at it for fear of messing it up.  Thankfully, J.Lloyd International has kindly resurrected the good ol' Lindberg line and the Snarks are cheap again!  A bonus is all the extras you get with the kit: a complete tractor, rolling mtce platform, 9 mtce figures, launch trolley, and a pretty good decal sheet.  All great for all sorts of Whiffery.

So, this one will be a sort of cross b/w an F-105G and maybe an EB-66 Destroyer: Big, lethal, and unabashedly over-the-top like a 1960s American musclecar.
There's another one coming, too (see Snark Yak-25Z thread).

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

That's a nice-looking kit, with all those extras: a tractor, stairs, erector/launcher and all those figures.  I might have to get one of those.

The CLETRAC high speed tractor that is included in the Snark kit is quite detailed.  It is much better than the CLETRAC supplied in the Monogram kit.

Hmmm - interesting...

Got me thinking now - scaleorama to 1/72nd for a high-speed bomber. Wonder if the fuselage could be flipped over to make the intake dorsal?

I've long wanted to take the Snark, add a little cockpit way up front, some engine pods on the sides up front and make it look a bit like a kid took Silly Putty to a newsprint XB-51 photo and gave it a long lengthwise stretch.   Someday, perhaps someday.   And back to regular (and far superior) programming.

Sounds intriguing. Can't wait to see your results.

Superb idea..... Lo-rider with Lake pipes and whitewalls or the street-racer look, with a hood-scoop, roll bar and black/flames paintwork ??

I know, I know, coat, right ?

Got one myself from Starship Modeler as a Secret Santa present. Was thinking of doing a Scale-o-Rama on it...

Darryl, Weaver, Dork, Rally, apophenia: those are all great ideas!  At $27 USD (Squadron.com), pretty affordable, too.  Go for it!

Looks like the perfect model for the 1st annual build the same model GB.  Everyone who wants to participate starts with the same kit and builds it however they want.  I am digging on the 72nd scaleorama ideas.

Jeremy,

Maybe a 1/72nd Northrop B-62A? You know, the four-jet, direct B-47 replacement with the distinctive canopy-less cockpit (just ejection hatches and a periscope).

But, you distinguish your Snarkbomber from the vanilla B-62 by turning into a CL-152 engine test bed for the Avro Arrow MkIV. Changes? Twin Curtiss-Wright ramjets in a rear fuselage pod (replacing the usual tail-stinger gatling gun and targeting radar) and Maple Leaf roundels.

[BTW -- if I've got this right -- in 1/72nd, the Lindberg Snark would scale out to a 31.4m (102') span.]

That is hilarious and oh-so-subtle.  ;D ;D
