Greg,

Sidetracking the thread a bit I'm afraid, but what are the two bulges on the underside of the F-111 in the last photo please?

The one under the weapons bay looks like a Pave Tack pod with all the works missing, but the one between the exhausts, leading back to the 'dump and burn' pipe, I've never seen before.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I think you will find that it is the tail hook for the arrestor system.

Ad, of course, the the last natural-metal CF-104 in the Canadian Forces, AETE's 104704:

Stayed in natural metal right up until it was retired. Lovely!

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

Howabout a red-white-blue and black B-36 with various sizes of white lifesavers on the aft belly?  ;D

Used to calibrate the tracking cameras for the Atlantic Missile Range at Cape Canaveral.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
