In my alternative WWII scenario the British and French governments maintain their Purchasing Commissions even after the US entry into the war (there are reasons for this, which would take to long to go into here). One of the results of this was the purchase of the Vultee XA-41 as a replacement for the same companies Vengeance.

Built in Canada by the Canadian Car and Foundry Company this powerful aircraft with it's 950 mile range on internal tankage, an internal bomb bay capacity of 3,000lb and a total carrying capacity of 6,400lb, plus the 4 37mm and 4 0.5" mg's made it ideally suited to medium range interdiction of Japanese bases and supply lines in Indochina.

All the aircraft served in the SE Asian theatre and this one is with 19 Squadron based in Northern Thailand during early 1946.

Model is the Anigrand kit (I got a Monday morning one here  :banghead:), Paints used are a mixture of Lifecolour, Xtracrylic, Tamiya and GW. Markings are from the MPM Vendetta.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Final couple.

This was my first finish of the year - got stuck in a bit of a winter fuge  :banghead:

I don't know what to say - it's gawky, geekly, a workman-like design and kind of ugly: very Consolidated.  Works for me!  :drink:
Whatever.

Dork the kit slayer

Not pretty, but looks like it'd get the job done.  Great work Chris!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Very cool stuff. I did not even know of that AC

As I had related before, Convair (Consolidated-Vultee Aircraft Corp) was right in my backyard, so to speak, but I have never seen one of these, nor (I'm kinda embarassed to say) even heard of it.

Plausible. Butt-ugly, but plausible!

(I should talk about ugly! For a dowdy and FAR less capable aircraft, see my Avro Avatar, somewhere buried in the current and finished projects section, or my gallery)
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Nice build, congratulations
And with this Mustang-like fin, it's a very good idea to invent P-51/A-41 mixes. I will add some on my CGI topic, thanks! ;D

EDIT: done at http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,4461.450.html Thanks again Narses2
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Ian the Kiwi Herder

Looks like the illegitimate offspring of a Fairey Barracuda and a BP Balliol with the wings of a Vultee Vengeance !......

......and I quite like it !!

Nice work, Chris.

Not a Consolidated design, its one of the final pre-merger Vultee designs.

The final, and only twin-engine, Vultee design was the Model 102/XP(F)-81

As you can see its bigger than an Avenger.  ;D

Nice build Chris.  I've always thought the XA-41 was a workmanlike looking bird, especially being a single seater.
