De Havilland Stinger Secret wooden jet project 1944....De Havillands rapid response (pre Vampire) to the Me 262 & Me 163
....sorry forgot to take build pics.....fuselage is from the Airfix Mossie, wings are Revell Go 229, jets Arado Ar234, 40mm cannons from Airfix Hurricane....
has a remote control 40mm cannon as the sting in its tail  ;D

Mind boggling! :)

It's a good thing the jets are mounted so as to exhaust beyond the tailplane tips........... ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Never would have imagined this concept myself-----but it's all the way round beautiful.  Very very lovable design and classic like the Spitfire.

Very nice indeed!...
That really does look like something that could have worked.
It's a big, wide world out there...so if it's all the same to you I'll just stay indoors!

So, is this an actual project or your own idea?

Hi Hobbes its just something I put together from left-over bits from my mossie & Go 229 projects .....it does look a bit like the hawker hunter though as Wyrmshadow says :tornado:

i should probably make the tail-plane a bit smaller just in case.....it is wood after all  ;D

Very nice ! Love your photo work....lots of angles to enjoy. And launching prototypes from a carrier like that makes sense to me....lots of time to figure out if the thing is going to fly before you smack into the ground !

Mossie

There was a real world jet mossie proposed IIRC, but it didn't have the swept wing.  Great model!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Bet the dorsal gunner wasn't too keen on it though........

Great idea Vostoc7: IIRC, there were jet-Mossie proposals, but certainly not swept-wing ones. The use of the Go229 for the wings is clever: I scratched my head for quite a while over those before I scrolled up and saw the text.

Rather than make the tail smaller, you could always protect the leading edge with a (whisper the sacriledge  ) metal skin, this being an improvised quick-fix when the jetwash proved more destructive than anticipated.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?
