This kit is as old as I am !  The old Airfix Cat from 1964, yellowed instructions and all.

Have to love the old kit, the pilots and the gunners have on helmets, face masks, gloves, and air hoses...A jet powered Catalina?

Ah, Catalina!  I had one as a kid but obviously never realised that when you painted the crew figures they could look like Harry Potter Dementors! ;D ;D

Always a treat to see a Catalina, although a bit rare to see one whiffed. I can't wait to see what you come up with, Wise Old One!

Only because I'm to cheap to pay the prices asked on eBay, otherwise there would be a San Tortan catalina by now. Possibly jet powered. or with twinned push/pull engines.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Or go the Dornier Do-24 route. A turboprop Catalina/Canso with four PT6s?

Please don't

Make it circa 1954, and give it two (maybe 3) RR Griffons with contra props.

Think of the sound!!!!!!

nope, this kit was molded in the year I was born ( or found, according to some theologists) , 1964.  She is going to get the twin engined jet treatment.

I'm another who built this one as a kid, fond memories, had to have a kit after seeing it at an airshow.  Looking forward to see what you do with it Greg!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
