They don't themselves! They do what they want, there's no recourse. If they want to take something from you, they will, and there's nothing you can do about it (short of a court case that'll cost you thousands)....

Yup as Pyro says it's mainly VAT which ups the cost.

As for HMRC. They are the one agency you do not want to mess with. They have far more legal authority then the police and I'm not sure anyone knows how far that authority extends ?

Uh huh. I remember being told on a small business course that if you can't pay both Inland Revenue and HMRC, ALWAYS pay HMRC first. Inland Revenue will negotiate a deal, on the reasonable principle that if they keep you in business, they'll get more tax out of you in the long run. HMRC on the other hand, will shut you down for £100 and then deduct it from your dole money.

Many years ago, there was a guy doing the pan-American highway tour on a motorbike, when he had to stop and fly home for family reasons. This resulted in his bike being shipped back to the UK from Colombia. HMRC kept the £4000 bike for three weeks, during which time they drilled over a hundred holes in it looking for drugs. They drilled holes in, amongst other places,  the petrol tank, the frame (weakening it to the point of being dangerous), the crankcase and the wheel rims. Then they phoned him and told him that if he didn't pick it up from their depot (200 miles away from his home) within 48 hours, they'd charge him for storing it. They didn't tell him it was unrideable though, so when he rolled up on the train in his bike gear with the keys, he couldn't do anything with it. He then had to incur hotel costs, HMRC's storage fees and transport costs while he sorted out getting it home.

HMRC offered him no compensation. He sued them, incurring legal fees in the process, and they eventually agreed to pay him the standard compensation that anyone's entitled to for any damage that HMRC do to their stuff, which was £500. Who decided on the £500 figure? HMRC, of course..... :banghead:

Yup had a few dealings with them at work including an early morning "raid" on behalf of the EU over a price rigging cartel allegation (which as far as I know is still going on 25 years latter  ). Although I knew what to do because I'd been trained to deal with it because of the nature of my job they just ignored my protests and did what they wanted. Luckily my second action was to call our duty solicitor and she was more bolshie then they were so an impasse developed. We all went for breakfast afterwards

And now HMRC and the Inland Revenue are the SAME organisation!!!

I really do feel that they need to be curbed, they have far too much power for any organisation in a democracy, and they need to be sawn down to size.

I don't neccessarily object to them having power, it's the lack of accountability and oversight that's worrying.

I refer you to my earlier comments regarding Satan.
Only more so due to that paint job.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I do like the Felixstowes. Soft spot for all things winged and floaty. Too spendy for me, alas, and I'd have nowhere to put it...

Aircav (Steve) sent me a photo of the new Felixstowe and Brandenberg Dog Fight double kit. The box doesn't even fit the boot of the car in the photo (car is not a big one admittedly) by a long, long way. It is huge, sticks out a mile

Mea Culpa - I got the wrong end of the stick and thought it was Steve's kit but the pic is off an Aussie IPMS site. So obviously Steve is sensible and I'm daft. My only excuse is that being a non driver all small red cars look the same to me  :banghead:

Well November's SAM dropped through the letter box this morning and the inside page advert is for Wingnut Wings.

Scheduled for late 2019 is a 1/32 Avro Lancaster Mk III "Dambuster". Some of the detail looks incredible, but how much is it going to cost ?

So having bit the bullet and moved out of their WWI and immediate aftermath comfort zone, what's next for them I wonder ?

My question is - which movie I wonder this model has been created to appear in? You all know of course the close association between Mr. Jackson, his movie company and Wingnut Models, I take it?   :banghead:
