Does anyone know if there is a conversion available to make this Jumo 222 powered Ta152 derivative:

Greg

Not as far as I know but AFAIK the Jumo 222 wasn't much larger than a Jumo 213 and it was interchangable - several Ju 88 testbeds flew with it and it was planned for the Ju 388.

Shouldn't be too difficult to convert a Ta 152H cowling - fill in the exhausts and fit new exhusts in a Y configuration placement.

However, it was a heavy engine and was intended for aircraft with the Ta 152C wing.  It would also have had a beefier u/c to take the weight.

And what do you think about this?

Daryl J.

So North American gets tasked with twinning the Ta-152C instead of the P-51H and sends it to Korea instead.

Belated congratulations for the twin-boom 190 & 252!

According to references, the Jumo222 powered versions would also have a different wing, and presumably larger main gear wheels(? the redesign includes a reshaped leading edge, perhaps to accomodate larger wheels?)

What if... Following low reliability of BMW engine, RLM orders a DB-601/605 powered Fw-190. 3 cannons on-board, no MGs, frontal-ventral radiator.

Well, and I thinking I'm original.... I was doing something similar the past year, but in other engine configuration...Like this:

The Jumo 222 was intended for the Ta 152C-9, Ta 152H-5 (laminar wing without wing tanks), and the Ta 152H-6 (laminar wing with wing tanks). There was a modelling article on converting to these variants. Have it downloaded in one of my files, so will post for you ASAP.
