What's the FS# for "Electric Mucus?"

Haven't posted in a long time, but then again, I don't visit the forums nearly as much as I used to.

Well, just wanted to show you guys that I'm still around and show you a little bit of a project I've been working on and off on.

This is the 1/48 Esci S-3 kit.  I was building this off and on, with the goal of making it into Navy 1.  Well, after not messing with it for a few months, I opened my modeling closet and saw that a shelf fell.  As a result, it had a wing cracked in half, the other wing barely hanging on, and a few other parts broken off or set loose.  So, I decided to repair what I could, and build it as a Whif.

So, do you guys think I got a good match for the main color "Electric Mucus?"

I"m sure many of you guys will be able to guess what this will end up being.

Here's the repaired cracked wing.  It's much more noticeable in person.

Misc pieces.  Note the cargo pods in case you guys haven't figured it out.

No way !

A civilian offshoot of the S-3, adapted to civilian use a short-hop air taxi, or possibly a firebomber?  Great stuff DOnt recognise the livery tho - what is it?

A bit of Me-tooism: I have had the idea of whiffing a civ version as well, for a STOL people-mover, but hadnt found a cheap kit.
Whatever it is, it and the concept look very cool so far.

Unless I miss my guess, that is the "Planet Express" livery from Futurama.

Hey Keith, what is the light green colour? There is a guy on Starship Modeler doing the Jokers Gazelle from Batman and he was trying to find the lighter green FS number and yours looks pretty close to what he's after.

I don't know the exact color.  It was just a can of Rustoleum I found at Wal-Mart.

Almost done...

Just have to get the gear on, and secure it to the base

The wing crack is still pretty obvious, and it only got worse when I tried a wash for the first time.  It was my first attempt, so it didn't turn out too well.  Some areas were too dark, some areas couldn't hold the wash, but at least it dirtied up the airframe like I wanted.  I eventually started to do everything half assed since I just wanted to finish this thing to get it out of the way.

Hopefully will be done in a few hours.

My Girlfriend has been bugging me forever to build something like the planet express ship and we both spotted that can at Wal Mart! Great choice! This is so cool.

Glad you liked it!

I really just could not wait to get this finished.  I had trouble attaching the aircraft to the base, therefore two of four wheels are slightly crooked (and one kept falling off)

But I'm glad its done.  I edited the Planet Express logo to include the outline of a S-3 and printed the decals.  The decals are layered since I had to put a blank white decal underneath to get the tan color to show properly.  Since the decals were layered and was a little thick, I didn't apply a wash over them.  I added a dullcote since I thought it might look a bit better with a flat finish instead of gloss.  Really glad I did, because it made a huge difference and looks helluva lot better.

So a cracked wing, bad wash, missing pieces. thick decals, and off an on construction...  Glad its done

The base is from the ESCI/AMT Ertl A-10 kit.  I painted the edge gloss black, masked it, and painted the rest flat black.  After that, I scribed the lines, and sprayed the top erratically with a can of gray paint to give it that uneven look.  After the paint dried, I scribed the lines again to show the black plastic.

That's all I can think of to write...  Hope you guys like it!
