Inspiration struck me this morning in church   I'm going to see if I can get/build a Tomahawk or two, maybe hang them under a Tornado (with USAFE markings?). The details still need some brooding, though. Hannants and lhshop don't stock Tomahawks as separate items, they aren't in any of Hasegawa's weapons sets either. Anyone here know of a kit that includes them?

Did you ever manage to create your AGM-109 Tomahawk?  If you wanted to try shortcut to creating the Tomahawk you could use one of the recent plastic, brass, or resin 21.0"/533mm torpedo shapes as the starting point for your Tomahawk.  The actual weapon was designed to be launched from a 21.0"/533mm torpedo tube so the diameter would be ideal.  All that would be needed is to create the wings, air intake scoop and the control surfaces.

Funny you should mention that. I did start work on the basic idea (a nuclear-armed Tornado) but switched to ALCM missiles which I tried to scratchbuild. I couldn't get the shape to look right; a visit to the RAF Hendon museum (which has an ALCM in its collection) showed what was wrong: the 3-view drawing I used was horribly inaccurate, even the main dimensions were off.

I've still got the components lying around; the Tornado just needs decals and finishing touches, but I'd have to redo the missiles from scratch. Tomahawks would definitely be easier to build.

PR19_Kit

There is, or was, a kit of a Tomahawk in 1/72. I've got one built and quite often show it alongside a V1, just to show there is progress, of a sort anyway.......

Darned if I can remember who did it, but it came in a smalk placcy bag with excellent instructions, and even a ground handling trolley. The trolley is lost in one of my model storage boxes sadly.

There are two Tomahawk kits, it seems: from Twelve Squared (an IM kit) and from S8M (resin). Neither are easily found.

Ah yes, mine is a Twelve Squared kit. The guy who runs it started in 1/144 scale, thus the 12 squared. They are, or were, based in Minneapolis.

Hi
Is there a kit that comes with BGM-109 Tomahawk missiles in 1/72 scale ?
Thanks
Steve

No, but i've seen some resin kits of Tomahawks. No aircraft, or ships in small size can carry Tomahawks

Hi Steve

12 Squared did a limited run injection moulded one. Brengun do a resin version :-

I've built a Twelve Squared version and it's pretty good, it's low pressure injection moulded so fine detail isn't its best point. Looking at the Bren one though, it knocks spots of the Twelve Squared offering!

Just use a drop tank and design your own cruise missiles

The Tomahawk is a nice easy shape, so it should be quite do-able. :)

I have an idea......

BGM-109 Tomahawk missile....

well........

"GM" obviously stands for "German" so we have a B(German)-109......
Obviously they've missed the "f" off after "B"..... ;D

So I shall make a cruise missile from a Bf-109G kit, when I can buy a cheap one. :drink: :drink:
And paint it in North American Indian markings...the Tomahawk, you see

Hmm - interesting thought: clipped wings, no undercarriage, guns removed and faired over, bomb in the cockpit with a low-profile solid canopy and a V1-style launch rail.....
