The first USN jet fighters to see service were the NA FJ-1 Furies of VF-27 aboard USS Princetown in May 1948 off the island of Okinawa.

Newly arrived in the Pacific theatre and despite inevitable teething problems and a chronic short range and endurance (by USN standards) the aircraft of VF-27 performed well, particularly in the anti Kamakaze roll for which their speed was well suited.
Model is the Pegasus kit (there will be a review in the next addition of the Newsletter) with the markings from the Revell boxing of the Hellcat

Its a limited production kit, but I found it a very enjoyable build. The white metal parts in particular deserve praise, although the gear legs are perhaps a little thin and may bend with time, although perhaps I put a little to much weight in the nose  :banghead:

The only other comment I would make is that the intake is a "solid piece". So rather then cut out and add some trunking I siply painted it orange attached the nose ring and called it a FOD guard - lazy, sure but what the heck !

I'm a modeller of at best average skill, so if I can build and enjoy stuff like this, anyone can. So give some of this limited stuff a try.

One of the few times that I can actually say that the mouth and teeth look appropriate on an aircraft.  Nice work!
