I've been interstate for work for the past 6 weeks or so (I was told it would be 3).
Seeing my plight PW sent over a box o modelling stuffs to keep me sane (or at least maintain my insanity at socially acceptable levels).
Luckily he sent over stuff he could spare as I binned the glue and putty (there wasn't much of either left anyway) while packing today as I wasn't sure what you can get on a plane. I decided to take the waterbased paints though hopefully that doesn't casue a problem.
So now the question:
What modelling stuff can you take and what cant you take? (assuming checked baggage not carry on)

I know there are obvious things you cant take like spray cans but things like revell glue, it burns, but then so do clothes paper and there's no flamable substance symbol on it.

I'm in Australia so local experiance.knowledege would be most helpful.

I've taken glue, paints and solvents before, in checked baggage. Of course it's all packed up and wrapped up and stuffed into a kit box so it can't rattle around or break, which also has the added benefit of making it hard to see if anybody was looking....

Apart from possible security problems:
I wouldn't want to bring paint, glue or solvents. The lower air pressure in the cargo hold may cause the container to open (esp. Revell/Humbrol tinlets that don't have a screwtop).

Cargo hold is pressurized on all aircraft that have a pressurized cabin. I would still pack the paints/glues in plastic bags though.

When i lived in Tanzania, all modeling supplies were brought from Denmark and South Africa by plane. No problems at ever. We flew everything from Avro RJs, A319, 737, 767 and MD-11. Didn't have problems in the ATR either.

To be safe, pop them in to a sandwich/ Tupperware box so that if there is a problem it is contained.
