B777LR

A nice desert scenario. Fits well with figures, aircraft, tanks, cars, WWII, WWI, cold war, Israel vs Middle East, RAF, USAF, helicopters. Most things fit in actually, probably because most wars happen near a desert

It is set in a poor country (note the concrete runway in horrible condition), in Africa or the Middle East.

I really like your Storch, Thomas! You've captured that desert camo to a T!

Aircraft are great, but I like your new base!  How did you go about it?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

A piece of wood, onto which i added a roll of plaster, simulating the 3rd world concrete taxiway. Around the taxiway i made the terrain by pouring lots of white glue out, mixed up with a litte paper to make the terrain uneven. I then found some pebbles in the garden, and stuck them into the still wet white glue. When it was dry, i found some appropriate desert plant like weed in the garden, and glued it on. Finally i airbrushed the runway black, then i airbrushed everything with a coat of Revell Aqua colour Beige, finally painting the runway light grey with some very light grey. I only used acrylics.

Some say it is a JSF...
Some say it is from Africa...

This would be perfect for a boat ramp or a sea plane beaching ramp. Sift in some grayish colored sand and you've got yourself a great concrete apron.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Indeed, this makes for nice concrete ramps and other installations. Won't work out for scales smaller than 1/72, though. Even in 1/72, aircraft with smaller wheels would get stuck in this surface, so this is more a WWII bomber / modern Russian aircraft surface.
