MiG-28, 'nuff said!

Well it ain't a MiG-28 but it is close - I was only just thinking of a Carrier based F-20.

if the German Bundesmarine has an aircraft carrier, i think a navalised version of the Dornier 228 would make a great carrier based AEW, COD and ASW plane  ;D

And if the Japanese had a post war carrier they could do something similar with the Mitsubisi MU-2.

The Let L-410 Turbolet would be another good candidate for that sort of thing, if I could think of a country that might use it if they had a carrier.

How about a COD Dominie for the FAA?

Navalize the F-100, if only to put it in VF-114 markings?  Too damn fitting I say.

You don't say?

You inspired me to do one last night complete with a custom made ZOTT in Illustrator.  I have to admit the Super Sabre looks pretty sexy in these markings

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

I have a civilian ship I'm converting to naval, one I've been working on for about a decade.
One of my next projects will be a militarized civilian ship, like old sailing vessels, as part of the Weaver's Patchwork World, and I have another similar project that's waiting for the model to be released.

And I have an idea for a piece of USN armor that needs a model. Yes, I said USN, not USMC.

Would a Coast Guard aircraft fall within this? I have a Hawk kit that I fancy turning into a torpedo bomber. ;D

Versions "on floats" are allowed?

i dont think "floats" qualify for navalisation, unless your giving a landbased aircraft/helicopter to the navy to operate from frigates or aircraft carriers.

second, usually i would say that the coast guard planes are a nono, seing there has already been a SAR/Coast Guard GB last year. however, if the coast guard would recieve an aircraft carrier and plan to use hawks then YES  ;D

im also been looking into converting a land based YF-22 into a carrier based fighter, as i got some nose undercarriages from scrapped F-18's and an F-14 in the spares box

also on the possible to-do list is a COD version of the Dornier Do228 and a navalised version of the Focke Wulf FW190, the FW190-T2
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Radish

In the recent past, the RAF and RN/FAA were combined, operating cheap turboprop powered F-4 Phantoms from canals.
This new organisation was named the Naval Air Fighting Force.....or NAFF

Congratulations! The Navalize It! GB tied as the top vote winner in the GB poll!

Since the Let It Snow! GB starts Dec. 21, we can have the Navalize Navalise It! GB start in November. To get everything going, we'll need to sort out the GB moderator(s) and finalized rules.

Your thoughts and ideas are most welcome as are volunteers to moderate this GB.

Carriers, woo-hoo!

Let's see. Helos are rather easy to adapt to carrier use.
I've wanted to do a COD DC-9, but that was already proposed officially.

The question is, what would be a surprising yet plausible adaptation of a land-based plane to carrier service? I'll need to see what's available at the hobby shop.

Gnats and F-5As have been seriously proposed for carrier use (okay the latter was an early pre-F-5 study, but the idea was there). How about a G.91, or the Hawk 200 with T-45 Goshawk mods?

How about a Mirage F1 or MiG-23?

Actually, the USN didn't like the approach speed of the navalized F-5A and this led to a revised offering, with larger wings, as the N-285B.  I regret that I never got a chance to photocopy the brochure for that one when I had the chance.
