As some of you may have read my next build theme is for an updated version of a 1970's TV show called UFO.
The aircraft I will be drafting into S.H.A.D.O service will mostly be very high speed high flying planes, some that never got off the drawing board.
The weapons for these aircraft need to be of even higher performance. The missiles will need to intercept their prey in high trans atmospheric situations, to avoid visual detection by civilians. Some of the missiles I am going to use and have already started to make will be scramjet powered weapons, most of which will not have an explosive warhead, but use their kinetic energy to destroy the target. What I have made so far is a very simple looking scramjet missile, loosely based on the aurora scramjet vehicle, and I have made modifications to some aim-54's also with the addition of a small scramjet fitted, to give the missile the hypersonic performance needed.
This is a completely new field of work for me and I have very limited knowledge on this technology, so any info will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Sprint was a Mach 10+ missile and it was basically a pointy cone:

HyFly is a Mach 6+ project:

X-51 is a wave-rider hypersonic design:

HOE was a kinetic kill vehicle design:

You could probably work some of the X-41 Falcon concept stuff into your new S.H.A.D.O. :

Excellent info there Jon,
I am sure I can make something out of that lot thats for sure.

About all that I remember of the show is the women that were on it. Quite exciting stuff for a 13 year-old Sci-fi nut.

Chris, do you have BSP4? That has lots of high-speed stuff, as well as missiles.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

That looks to be quite an interesting book Pyro,
A tad too expensive for me though I think. I have started to build a hypersonic interceptor from bits I salvaged from the bone yard, when it looks something similar I will do some pictures, along with the missiles I have done.
Cheers,
Chris.

I would think that your local library will have a copy, or will be able to find one for you. Alternatively, ebay or a second hand one from Amazon. They're very interesting books. :)

I found the attached image in some report from the USAF Air University site that was interesting so I saved it and attempted to clean up the image and maybe get some dimensions added to it.  Maybe you can add it to your arsenal.  With the slab sides and simple shape it should be simple enough to construct from plastic card stock.

Will you be incorporating Lt. Gay Ellis (with her purple hair and shiny uniform) into this project? (^:

Hello Jeffry, Lt Ellis's grand daughter will be an F-19 jockey   I will look into the shiny suit bit, I have some Alclad that should do the job.
Those drawings look very promising for what I want to do, as most of my engagements will be in the higher altitudes, and seen as its science fiction, anything goes really.
Cheers Jeffry.

if the local libary dosnt do it, ask them abought an inter libary loan... if all else fails the get the british libary copy ( i think) but its how i got ,my hands on a copy of Janes small arms for a project on millatry polymers wile i was at uni.  at the time i think it cost me less than £5 ( i think it was less than 1) and got to use it for several months.

That Israeli loitering munition looks excellent, that should be an interesting project to build in 1/72nd scale.
