This thing has been gathering dust on top of the cabinet for a while, and is awaiting a clear coat decals and some missiles fitted to its pylons.
It is the Esci 1/72nd scale model that has had the newer versions nose and intakes.

Aestheticly, I prefer the Blinder ( wretched though it was ) but this is a very striking paint scheme.

Sauragnmon

I like the Blinder too, but the Backfire just has something about it, sleek and powerful.

Beautiful work, Chris - love the splinter job on it.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

But does its positioning on top of a wheelie bin have any significance?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It is funny you should say that Kit.......
It is the best place I can take the pictures out in the garden, and the blue background of the bin seems to bring the colours of my models out better.

I'm hoping Trumpy's 144 Backfire-C comes so beefily well set up as the 72 does, so I can harvest a bunch of bits for stuff off it.

Super Cool  How many Rolls of Painter's Tape & How Many Bottles of Model paint did You Go through to Get such a Great Result????? Keep up the Great Work

chrisonord

Thanks for the comments guy's.
I went through quite a lot of tape on this thing to begin with as I kept getting bleed through, so in the end I put the airbrush away and did the rest of it by hand. The missiles that came with the kit were nothing like anything that was in Soviet/CIS service, so I have modified them to look a bit more like KH-55's. Marking wise, I am still looking for suitable roundels for my cartel air force, as this aircraft will belong to them.
Cheers,
Chris.
