In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Captain Canada

Not a big fan of the demarcation or the markings, but it does look good and certainly makes sense !

The F5U is VERY nice - even though the paint scheme is rather dubious, since it made sense on the F4U where it comes from (which had outer wings replaced from an older, all-blue aircraft). Here it looks interesting, but makes ...little sense? Anyway, great build, and the grey/white scheme suits the F5U well.

Ah, but the guy who flew the 'Pancake' was the SAME guy who flew the Corsair, and he was an Admiral by the time he was flying the 'Pancake', and he liked the old Corsair's scheme, so they painted it HIS way.  ;D ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

In fact the true story is that WWII hero Capt. James H. Flatley, Jr. just loved that Black 5 "Corsair" we all know.

He became vice admiral and CO of NAS Olathe for about a year (check Wigooglopedia if you don't believe me ;)). BTW the station was renamed Flatley Field for him between 1962 and 1969. As a CO he ordered to paint ALL a/cs in the base incl. "Super Corsairs" and "Flapjacks" in this famous scheme.

And a legend was born... ;D

How cool! I'm a big fan of the color scheme, too. The Captain had good taste.
