Lol, a whiff i read about on the danish wikipedia:

From the Scientology page (what a bunch of morons)
QuoteDerefter blev de sat på rumskibe der lignede Douglas DC8 fly på en prik (med den undtagelse at de brugte jetmotor i stedet for propeller).

What it says, is "They were put on spaceships that looked exactly like DC-8s, with the exception that these used jet engines" ;D Id like to see the "normal" DC-8 then

Jschmus

That story is recounted on the English version of Wikipedia, though it is worded a little more clearly.  It says that the "Thetans" or whatever were transported to Earth on "spaceplanes" which resemble the DC-8 without engines.  Supposedly, the design of the DC-8 resulted from the design descending through human racial memory until the present day.

Think I first saw that Kalinin K-7 monster plane on Dryroastedblend and today I had a look at Kampfgruppe 144 and someone has scratchbuilt one in 144th scale! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_C5UAXb0bEic/SYanM1QrM7I/AAAAAAAADHw/91VQSzFlIw8/s1600-h/Kalinin_34front.jpg
Here's the main site with Alvis31's 1/144th airliner made from a 48th Bf109 and the Fantastic Plastic Barnes Wallis Swallow built and painted. http://kampfgruppe144.blogspot.com/

The K-7 appears both in Bill GUnston's 'Back to the drawing board' and Jim Winchester's 'The world's worst aircraft' - it was a monster, had seven engines, and was never fitted with weapons because it disintegrated during a test flight due to vibration problems. There was an intention to fit engines into the huge wheel pontoons as well at some stage.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Thought about San Torta converting it to a flying boat when I first saw the K-7 Puddingwrestler! Those sponsons are perfect for floats. Have you finished the next Scarlet Sloth adventure yet? I love Zeps/Airships.
Or maybe it was one of Dr.Yo's flying laboratories?

A the end of the Internet Modeler article are the following words:

QuoteSay tuned for an even bigger and more incredible aeroplane from the same period.

Be afraid.

The Maxim Gorky - also appearing in the volumes I mentioned  - featured a pharmacy, radio station, cinema, and printing press among other things...

And no, I have not yet finished the next Scarlet Sloth story.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Runway ? ...
