Snapped these at the 2006 Nationals in Telford:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

"Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality." -Jules de Gaultier

"My model is right! It's the real world that's wrong!" -global warming scientist

An armor guy, who builds airplanes almost exclusively, that he converts to space fighters-- all while admiring ship models.

SSgt Baloo

A Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon-esque whif:

Not older than dirt but remembers when it was still under warranty.

The Rat

Here's one I knocked out quickly a couple of years back with some spare Warhammer decals:

Debated whether to put this here or under armor.  But think it fits here first.

Sherman with Tesla.

Seriously awesome work on that one - though I would have questioned whether a Sherman was the prime choice - it might have been more multi-genre to give it to a Soviet tank.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Almost forgot I did this guy earlier in the year.  The original Starscream from Transformers, for anyone over thirty five!

Mossie, my wife happened to wander by at that time, and her comment on the piece was she thought it was adorable.

Tell your wife thank you!  My wife particulalry liked the egg plane I've done too, she always says they're 'cute'!

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Yes, Greg, that is a Shockingly good model, I have to admit.

Mossie, a note - I'm 26 and fully loved the original Transformers cartoon and had a number of the toys as well, and even a few of the comics.

I'm a tad older, 33 & was around eight years old when they came out, just the right age!  It was actually the Robo/Gobot range that first got me hooked, I saw the advert on TV & to quote James May, it was enough excitement to make an eight year old faint, and I did!  I immediatley pestered my Mum for Christmas, Transformers came out shortly after, got one of those instead & they were much better anyway, never looked back.

I still get a smile on my face when I see them, in fact I still have a G1 Ultra Magnus & a small Decepticon car that I've long forgotten the name of!

I wasn't sure whether to put this in scifi or ARC, but it's mostly scifi - a 1/350 scale scratch-built Bolo Mk. XXIII, Nike from David Weber's Bolo!

If anyone's interested in reading the story the model was inspired by, you can get it, in its entirety, here:

I love the Bolos.  Might be how my SSGB ends up.

Course, my favorite versions of what Bolos look like are the ones on Laumer's (original author of the series) site.
