P.1154 IT Falcon Del Mare onboard AQUILA

Anyone for Italian ?   Another in-service P.1154:

Extracted from "Johns Fighting Aircraft of The Major Powers , 1988":

"The Marina Militare was quick to acquire the P.1154 for service onboard the rebuilt WW2 Carrier AQUILA.  Aermacchi (now Alenia Aermacchi) was granted a licence to build the aircraft as the Falcon Del Mare (Sea Eagle), powered by a Fiat assembled variant of the BS.100 engine.

Italian Falcons are now included in the multinational NATO "1154 Force, Southern Europe" joint support programme, shared with the Navies of Spain, Portugal, Algeria and France, who also operate P.1154 naval variants"

Bit bizarre - I absolutely loved the Indian one, and the Italian navy Harrier IIs are possibly my favourite of the whole family, but this just doesn't quite work for me

Still a very nicely done model though.

Not necessarily - think VENERABLE (Venticinco de May) and VENGEANCE (Minas Gerais).  Both contemporaries and both nearly made it to the 21st Century!

Very true. Still, I think she may be a little creaky by then  . Out of interest, do you forsee the Aquila being fitted with a ski-jump to facilitate the Falcon? (Falco, Falcon, Falcone??)

Your English is way better than my Italian but I'll take that as a yes 

The reason I ask about the name Falcon is because I have seen Falco used elsewhere (particularly the Reggiane Re.2000/2001), though Falcone may be because I've watched Batman Begins lately

All courtesy of babelfish - the only Italian I can speak was picked up whilst deployed to the Adriatic at HM's pleasure and consists of asking for Pizza and a beer, my friend will pay!   

I think "Falco" is probably more correct (I typed "Sea Eagle" into Babelfish and it gave me Falco del Mare)

The Indian one superimposed on a background seems to have been much more successful than the Italian, so I will wait until I find another suitable background before I do any more photoshopping.

Candidates are a USMC one, a Spanish one, or maybe even an Argentine one (quite fancy the Argy flag on the rudder) - my 1154 timeline has the Falklands crisis fizzling out when the carriers arrive with much Argy-UK peace & love breaking out instead.   Come to think of it, an Argy one doing practice landings on the Brazilian carrier could work!

The USMC one gets my vote 

I had Argentina going the other way, getting a Kiev and some Yak-38s. Fodder for my gun-nose RN Phantoms
