Bristol Freighter

Okay, it's a thread for anything about Bristol Freighters, but you may notice a theme developing in my thinking here......

How about helicopterizing one of these? With a huge single rotor and engines on short pylons, it would look like a giant CH-37 Mohave......

You mean something along the lines of a Rotodyne, only a lot bigger, say, along the lines of an Mi12?

Well I was thinking of something more simple like an early piston-engined helo with the wings cut off at the engine pods, but a Rotodyne-style design would work too.

S-56/H-37 style, I take it?

Looks like a piston engined, high wing Andover. A bit 'modern' looking for Bristol.

Having converted the Lockheed Neptune to a twin boom twin tail using the Fairchild AC-119K parts, the type 179 appeals to me. I'll with another AC-119 kit, the leftover parts will go to make a roll-on-roll-off  Freighter or helicopter using the MH-53 Sea Dragon gearing.
I'll ask Tophe if he has done any twin boom designs.

Yes, and I told you (in my 1939-45 twin-boom topic) that it was difficult for me to find the source again. But I remember that I took a graphical summary of the Bristol 179 shape in my handwritten folder. Here is this, imperfect sorry. (but copyright-less)...

A thought popped into my head, the Bristol Superfreighter would make an ideal platform for a AEW or a kitbash similar to the Grumman E-1B.
Going for a Rotodome version with RR Tynes, S-3A landing gear housed in fuselage. E-2 Hawkeye tail.
Second build is the Gunship float plane using floats from the Matchbox Henkel He115. Parts from the Italeri AC-119G kit.

I wonder if you were to kitbash it with the V-22 Osprey something similar to the Rotodyne could be achieved.
Using the tilting wings,  tail and undercarriage parts. If the rear loading ramp can be used, it will make a great Whiff.
