Since seeing this project in "British Secret Projects Fighters and Bombers 1935-1950" by Tony Butler, I've fancied having a go at building one. Struck me as a cross between a Skyshark and a Wyvern, so since I had an ID models Wyvern in the spares box that I gave up on years ago, I thought Why not!
So here it is, my first attempt at a "What-if" in 1/48th.

I've always fancied that one too - excellent job!  :drink:

What the man in front of me said plus I'll add a "Stupendous"  Stunning build of an aircraft I've always wanted to see a model of.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That looks absolutely stunning,I am not really into this era of aircraft, but this looks brilliant.
Nice one

....I'm saving it to my "other people's models" file.

I'm curious. What engine did it have buried back there?

The similar Japanese Keiun had a 3,000hp coupled engine (like a He-119 or He-177) back there.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

I like this model. Very good work, and a very interesting prototype!

Only one question: the tail wheel seems to be unpainted. Isn't it?
Best regards,

Very nice Andrew, I've got plans on doing one of these myself only in 1/72.  I got hold of three Czechmaster Wyvern TB Mk.I kits where one will be buit as a Mk.I, one to be built with the Clyde engine and the other like this one.

I've sometimes wondered if Rolls Royce passed on some of their development of one of their projects, the PV Fighter and FTB (see below), to Westland as it is very similarly laid out.

It was to use the Rolls Royce 24 cylinder 'H' configuration engine called the Eagle, same as what went in the Wyvern TB Mk.I.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

like it so very much, good work and nice finish, well done
Everything looks better with the addition of British Roundels!

Thanks for all the positive comments, living out in the sticks I don't get much chance to show off my models, no model clubs or groups locally. This is the first model I've posted online , so thanks everyone.
Yes ,I did forget to paint the tailwheel, i gave the whole thing a coat of tyre black and that's as far as I got, funny how a photo amplifies your mistakes is,nt it?.

A photo can amplify your mistakes, but other times it can flatter outrageously. Just about EVERYTHING I've built for here looks better in the pixels than in the flesh. Makes me feel guilty sometimes....
