When i opened up the Tamiya 1/48 A-10 box yesterday, i was suprised to find parts that i remember from 10 years ago. In 1999, i made a 1/32 Zengdefu A-10, and the parts are 100% identical to the Tamiya kit, except larger.

Is it normal to scale a mold up or down?

It happens quite a lot Thomas. Especially with the likes of Trumpeter etc.

The current Special Hobby Blackburn Skua in 1/72 is the 1/48 kit scaled down which leads to a profusion of tiny parts  :banghead:

However quite often you get "similar" part and sprue layouts because thats the best way to make a mould and engineers will come up with similar solutions to similar problems.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
